ok, the fireworks were NOT fake. the footprint fireworks WERE there. it's only the one they boardcast on TV is a pre-made CGI version of the actual fireworks, and they did that because of safety and quality concerns with regard to having an actual helicopter following the actual firework. ask anyone in beijing (who were not at the ceremony) and they'll tell u they saw the footprints high in the sky.
