Crashing Error
So yea....my comp was surprisingly working for like a 4 days and it hadnt crashed once...but then windows did an update and its starting to crash again...so my question is.... does the windows update effect it at all or cause any problems? or what? cause this is pissing me off

Re: Crashing Error
like does it crash when you run sro or just all the time because i had a problem like that my graffics card fails now and then (intel graffics sucks) and only on sro and it got worse when i updated but latly its been crashing less lol

i have that same problem. if it doesn't freeze, it just suddenly closes. no error codes whatsoever.

Re: Crashing Error
im starting to get pisses off... it works for me then it suddenly acts like a pos (peice of shit) again..... i just got a new graphics card! i mean comoN! lol....its gotta be the windows update.. i mean what else could it be..i have graphics on low..on sro..

Re: Crashing Error
The windows update could very well be affecting it. As a last resort, try system restoring it prior to having installed the update. and as a SUPER last resort, if ur willing to play sro crash free, PC restore it.(restoring it back to when u first turned it on)

Re: Crashing Error
i know the awnser is probably no....but can you possibly downgrade...to your previous version?

Re: Crashing Error
i said NO triple/double/quadruple+ posting :x </3. BUT i beleive system restoring could help.
taken from microsoft page:
Every time you download or install a new game, application, or software update, you make changes to your computer. Sometimes that change may make your system unstable. Have you ever wanted to go back to the way it was? With System Restore, you can.
System Restore works a lot like the Undo command in Microsoft Word. You can use System Restore to remove any system changes that were made since the last time you remember your computer working correctly. System Restore does not affect your personal data files (such as Microsoft Word documents, browsing history, drawings, favorites, or e–mail) so you won't lose changes made to these files.

tedtwilliger wrote:I use to freeze every time i went to town, or i use to get the ??? error a lot. So what i did is the following ( screenshots included ) and it solved my problems. Although I typed this all myself I got the info from the technical help section, where you should of gone first.
First of all to fix those pesky dc errors, we do the following. Go into the silkroad folder in the program files, then for each of the four .exe's right click and go to properties. Whilst in properties go to compatibility, and change the compatibility mode to windows 98/me.
Now do this for each of the four .exe’s They are labeled sro_client, replacer, silkroad and SilkErrSender
Now that should hopefully fix the ??? errors, though i chose to do this next step as well as it fixes problems where my computer just freezes when in town. Note the fact that this must be done every time you load up your client. So its best to do it at the character selection screen, as theres no point doing it if your client closes when you fail to log in on the first attempt.
Now when your client is all nice and loaded up, hit the windows key and proceed to use the crtl alt del combination. When at this screen, right click on the sro_client and click on go to process.
Now from here, right click on sro_client.exe, then go to priority, then set it to high as opposed to normal
Now if you have a dual core computer, like myself, you can also set the affinity so it runs off one as opposed to 2. I don’t know the logic behind it, but it fixed my problem. So now once again right click on the sro_client exe and go to Set Affinity, it should be right below the set priority option. From here, click the boxes so just the 1st cpu is clicked.
Now you must do this each and every time you open the client, but it has been a perfect solution for me. I hope it works for you too.
p.s If theres any mistakes someone please say so and ill fix them. Im very tired so i did this without paying too much attention >.<
Report back with results.

Priority and compatibility settings can be done to any processor, single core or not.
