There isn't an option to unless you're proficient in coding phbb. One hockey forum I frequent does have a maximum size in Kilobytes per sig, 15k for regular users, and 25k for sponsors. Again, I believe that requires coding. There's no set option to control sig size, if I recall from when I hosted a forum.

no i mean if people do have it over sized, and a mod see's it, they can just edit it ?

It's not always just the size of the picture. Its all the text that people put in. The bunnies, the list of 20 characters they have with all their stats, guilds and servers. Please learn to make use of horizontal space.

My pet peeve is vertical signatures. I think mine is too tall, and want a new one (pokes Dom). If you've got a picture and more than 3 rows of text (including blank lines) its too big. I also think that people that use more than 2 emoticons in a post should be flogged, but I digress.

Why do people care? Load times and readability of the forums. I hate having to scroll down to read each post. I keep my browser at about 1/3rd size so I can multitask easier.

Admins can, by deleting the link, and even rearrange letters, but they can't mess with the dimensions of the picture if it's on another hosted namespace.

Don't think mods have the power to edit full accounts unless theyre given the permission, or are an admin already.

I think it can be done, and I know a lot of websites that have limits of 500 letters, and a width and height limit. Some also have a mb limit as well (like 25 mb)

Which is pointless for image links.

I could 'code' additional things, but I am behind on site maintenance already, and do not desire to add to the list of work to be done.

So, just use common sense.

Great, about time some of those massive sigs were put to a stop :p Just make use of horizontal space. Use one image or two smaller ones. Or fit all you info into reasonable sized image.

Well I do nothing all day except troubleshoot people and work on my own website, I can try to give you a hand with 'behind the scenes' (although my knowledge isn't completely up there) I would be willing to give you a hand.

Silent - only use one, both of them side to side makes the page wide - one below the other would make your sig to high

the only thing i find wrong with limiting character input is that my sig is made of like 6- 7 images which i have to code individually so they will display, using this code takes all of the character legnth and i'm unable to put any other info in my sig.

but hey, its my sig and my problem to deal with.
