I don't really even listen to hip-hop anymore, but when I did I listened to Bone Thugs, Wu-tang, Big L, Big Pun. All of which are better then Lupe.

Most of what Lupe says go over must of these peoples' heads anyway.

Quote above has 2 different meanings. First one is self explanatory and the other is him comparing himself to a religion. How people barely understand what their god wants but they understand the basic principles behind the religion so they follow. The clapping and standing is what some do to praise their god. Not very complicated but effective.

Anyone who "hates" rap, I'm just going to assume you based your judgement off the cancer of rap, rappers like Soulja Boy. I listen to all types of music and I have yet to find a verse in a song that is on average more complicated than a rap verse. Feel free to prove otherwise.
