um, i enjoyed it. i have a crappy rig though so i couldn't enjoy it to the full extent. the game was very well built as a whole and had a good balance i find. but if your going to buy a ww2 RTS make in Company of Heros . EDIT: sorry forgot to add that it has the BEST physics engine of its time!
Ya shoulda got it with opposing fronts. I got the gold edition for 30$ a few months back. It's an amazing game. You can do things as quickly or as slowly as you like. I enjoy really getting stuck in, making sure my base is safe before I make a move, where as I can just as easily attack quickly and achieve the same result.
Having said that, I do go through periods with it, and I still haven't played it online.

I noticed that and it's the thing I love the most. I like taking my timw and getting the least amount of casualties possible - the game doesn't punish me for that.
I just played my first online match - it was a 3v3 and lasted over an hour. It was Farking amazing. Both teams were on a side of the river, and there was an island seperating us inbetween. There was one northern bridge (next to my base) that crossed onto their side, and two more connected to the large island in the south. And, there was a foot bridge on their side connected to that island as well.
Like a Farking nub I fortified the northern crossing, it was useless because the bridge was broken anyways, and all of the fighting took place on the chokepoint to the south. It was just back and forth because of both sides having massive artillery, and whichever team that would try capture the two flags would get shot to hell. Eventually everyone on my team fired their artillery on the ennemy's bases, and we got lucky and took most of their heavy guns out. It let us push through the island and start attacking a base - I managed to get a V2 rocket off and it damage his building a lot and took him out of the game while he rebuilt. They pushed us back but it was the first time one of the teams managed to cross the river.
Later on, we were still fighting over that island while a guy on my team repaired the footbridge and sent in two infantry units on their side of the river. I don't know if he planned it or just got lucky, but it was done right after both sides blew eachothers tanks up, and with just two infantry units he managed to capture a point and establish a barracks. From their he set up defensive positions. After seeing that I caught on to what we had to do, I repaired the northern bridge and sent in 4 tanks. I also managed to get my last command point and access the king tiger tank - which is so Farking OP and basically 1 shots anything on tracks or wheels. I cleaned up the north then pushed south to meet our teammate who was holding the island and the southern bridge.
It was Farking amazing. I'm going to buy the expansion today. I love how even if you don't have the expansion, you can still play with people who do.

noob
He fought off like 6 waves of infantry while I built my bridge and our teammate sent his tanks to the island.

love that you used your mod power to edit my message as well and then just went on about the tactical aspects of the game.
I thought you were calling me a newb for my team being defensive, not for pointing out my spelling mistake. I'll change it back, just don't link anyone to this thread =[

When you buy it from steam, you download it like any other steam game. It automatically installs itself while it downloads and puts in the cd key for you. I bought the expansion after, and when I went to add the game in the original's menu, it automatically filled out the cd key field for me.
you can also buy the expansion and still play the game but some of the features from the original game are missing. my friend did that and i played at his house and i hated how he didn't have snipers on his game.
i loved it i bought it since it first came out . & i still play it havent tried online yet but i will after ur post

If you have both you have snipers. I think it only limits units if you have ONLY OF, otherwise it integrates both.
I will be honest, I love the farking game!! However, I sucked at online, won a couple matches though. I dont like how it takes forever to find a online game! It would take forever to find a match, and halfway they would leave, or absolutely destroy me! Thats what keeps me from going to the game, but hey, I might join some of you guys soon

Ya, thats really weird. Were they ranked??
Who knows, could be my connection, which makes no sense because in BF:2 I was perfectly fine. I dont know, I need to improve first before I start playing again, I was pretty bad
How many servers do you guys usually get when you hit refresh, with full green bars.

i've played the single player at a friend's house, i have to say it is THE best WWII RTS i've seen so far. but online seems really hard for newbies... are there like newbie friendly servers? xD also is there built in voip support for online games?
