it shouldnt b this hard...

Post by mike2007 »

to find a goddamn pt. everyday is typically the same for any1 in the 2X lvl range. you log on, you look at the 5 pages of pts on pt match, and then u go afk. because of all the pts on pt match maybe 5 or so r for your lvl range, and of those pts ur lucky to find 1 that is filled with legits from the whitelist. i had a great pt the other day at chickens/ongs, til the cleric had to leave, at which point it fell apart. naturally i added all those ppl to my friends list in hopes that they would all log on and grind consistantly, but so far the only 1 that has is a warlock like me. i dont know about the rest of the unions but BHA ither lacks the nubs to make pts or lacks the willingness to union chat that some1 is looking for a pt or to start a pt.
after looking at pt match since ive been on venus this go around ive noticed that pts consistantly first pop up at crabs then go straight to mujigi. the closest thing in between r sungs which still only happen every couple days or so. every1 needs to get their heads out of their asses and help each other get past this crappy stage in the game. it really doesnt bother me if its a pt grind rather than a plvl, cus i actually like to grind, but if some1 is willing to plvl then yea ill accept.
/rant
and here is a very simple solution to this prblm (whether it goes here or on the confed forums i dont care): we need set pt locations for anyting and everyting. you higher ups all typically have unoin chat and thers typically always rok pts goin. but for us lower lvls its a lot harder to find pts so an organized list of pt spots and ppl who want to grind there would b quite beneficial for us. to start off u can sign me up for anything from punishers to sungs, but i prefer ongs right now.

Search: Venus Leveling Spot =

viewtopic.php?f=58&t=84160

There's another one floating around as well, with the locations marked in red.

Also, it goes in waves. I went 2 weeks without a party at penons/mujis. For the last two weeks, there are two every day.

All that said, I'll help powerparty at kokus or w/e. 9-11 PM PST.

Having a spot to go to to meet up for a certain mob or level range seems like a good idea. Pick somewhere in Constantinopel/Samarkand/Hotan/Donwhang or maybe out on the field/Stone cave. We did it alot when I pted in the cave.

Don't be too picky about the parties either. Its better to get xp a bit slower then usual then not getting anything at all.

that topic isnt what im talkin about. it tells u where u should grind. it doesnt list ppl willing to participate in pts there which is what im trying to do.

I mainly got pl 2x-30 not really many parties after wolfs. I would party with you, today I have school, but I will be on in 6 hours. I think sung parties are best for people my level (35), I dont know about you Mike. Maybe Ongs? Well, I see you later today and we can figure out where, what and when.

Thought you were looking for party locations.

Here is the thread for party members.

viewtopic.php?f=58&t=78769

Woefully out of date, but the same idea.

EDIT: It occurred to me if we all make one of those little deals you have in your sig (or a less graphic one that only took up one line) and posted them in the same place, the OP would never need to be updated (except to add new ppl, not lvls-which I think is why the old one died). Hmmmm. Thats a xfire thing, right? It updates automatically?

Can someone make one of those that lists char name and level...and maybe build...on a single line? Also, can it show if the person is online or not?

How hot would that be? A single page with all the legits, their build and levels. It would be green if they were in-game right then and red if offline. No more asking in union. No more wondering if someone from another union was on. Awesome.

The client would have to modified.

So is the client modified for those things already?

I thought it was just an xfire plugin that read the data going back and forth to joymax. Not even an SRO plugin as far as I know. It doesn't alter anything, just reads and displays the information. Like I said...AFAIK.

Xfire only displays how long the game is running and divides it into two parts: Per Week, "All time". So you can go to the log in page and leave it there for 365/365 and it'll show that many hours XD. Doesn't require any packet read, just watching the files on your computer.

Something like that would have to be a program that both monitors your silkroad.exe process (merely ON or OFF) and communicates with a website to post that status.

While I know that wouldnt need any client altering it WOULD however be something that required a certain amount of trust to install and operate on behalf of the user. It could also be argued that it is a "3rd party program".

I could ask my guys what it would take and let you know if the idea is even feasible.

xfire is a free gaming IM. it has a couple plugins but has nothing to do with sro cept for the fact that it logs your hours played on it like it does for 99% of other games out there. i believe the image ur talkin about has my char name and lvl on it. there is a program for that can auto update it every 10mins, but that would fall under 3rd party program usage, so i manually update mine every so often. its from http://overkill-error.pytalhost.com/graph/index.php?page=home. if i listed ppls images like this they would only have to update their images every so often i guess it could work. hell id even update for them (though lvls only, discluding % & sp) if it could keep the list updated more often. the other thing is it should prbly include what class(es) they r so it makes starting a pt from scratch easier.

I always thought those sigs were automatically updated, not manual.

In order to have it automatic, it would have to be running in the background and able to read at least some of the information. I don't know which information is client-side and which is server-side and how difficult it is to read the packets. Thanks for following up with the pros, NB.

EDIT: beat me to the post. It makes some sense now. Worth investigating. If this could become a reality, it could be very powerful. Not just listing builds, levels and online status, but also listing common times played, etc. Yeah, it would take some trust if it were distributed, but if it had Cruor's name on it, I'd buy it.

Even for the one I am talking about, the player info such as name, build and level would have to be manually updated because if it DOES hook into the client then it absolutely is a third party program.

XFire isnt the only example tho, WeGame must also have some plugin that detects the client which is passive. So that is what we need.

XFire works well with silkroad.. I think it shouldn't be considered 3rd party program bec if my memory isn't betraying me, joymax had to fix some stuff in silkroad sometime ago so it could work well with xFire..

Anywayssss, that program we need, it doesn't have to be connected to silkroad... it could be like vent, a client and a server, where we all could connect to that server from our clients (program client not SRO) and we could use it say as a party match system, union chat, union chat for all legit unions... it could help..

xfire simply detects that sro_client.exe is running, nothing more

correct, it was ages ago. they basically had to tell their then working gameguard that xfire was an ok program to have running alongside sro.

Re: it shouldnt b this hard...

but what ur asking is different than detecting if sro_client is running on a specific computer like xfire. what ur asking is that the program detect what character is logged in on that specific computer, and more specifically what server theyre logged into. which is exactly what the program at overkill error (above posted link) does. it hasnt been sanctioned by JM like xfire has and therefore i aint using it and the same goes for any program that even cruor might b able to make.
edit: and although that would b an awesome thing for some1 to b able to do, PMing ppl is so much easier. if it goes through and u get a response then u know theyre at the keyboard.

No, you misunderstood me.

What i was talking about is making a small program that detects ONLY if your silkroad process is running or not. In that same program you would input your igname, level, build and guild and that information would be sent to a site where it would be displayed in some kind of list.

Need a cleric? Go look at the list and see if one is on around your level.

You get what Im talking about? Nothing would be automatic, you would have to fill it in.

nb's idea is good.. but as long as nothing is automatic (the only way to "legitize lol" it), we'll need full cooperation from those using the program... for example, they need to update their info on a daily basis.. they need to log on the program only if they're willing to party... they shouldn't forget to log onto the program if they're willing to party.. etc..

There would be, yes. But I know that if you poke people who dont pay attention enough times they straighten up. It would definitely take a group effort but Venus is known for being able to act on a single idea, right?

There are many pties ard, but i always fail to get in a proper working 1.
When i get in a working pt, it dies too fast.
when u look, there may b a few pt on list, but then.. how many is actually running? 2/8 is not a running pt... 5/8 waiting is not a running pt.
Everytime i join, it ended up in an endless wait n at the end, pt dies.
At least thats how it was when i was playin.

Timezones difference, shortage of certain builds. Non consistencies of players.

Surprisingly, when u set up a pwrpt, it fills up instantly...

Well the lack of party I've been really feeling is at sungs and a bit around those lvls... Generals, especially for tanks.. and chasers, lack of INTs especially clerics and high lvl wizzies..

Pwr pt means no exp for the high lvl? also, when the high lvl leaves, the pt falls apart.

They just go:
"I ma go pvp"
"1% left... PLSS"
"Who is pwrlvling us?"
so on...
