If you don't have all the characters yet just do this:
Special melee > Stamina mode > Flower on > Set CPU at 1 hp. Do 450 games and you have unlocked all the characters (takes less than 2 hours).
Lame. Whatever happened to unlocking stuff the old-fashioned normal way.
+1
Do the emissary if you want to unlock most of the characters, they are all in there only with JigglyPuff, Toonlink, and Wolf you have to find special doors.

Emissary isn't worth the time. I'm glad you can just play matches to unlock characters instead of playing through that tedious game mode. I started unlocking characters the same way as soon as Mano told me how to do it. The main reason I bought the game was for the multiplayer experience not the single player.

+1 to what DR said and also I've already seen the youtube videos of the full SSE campaign back in early February when I was still anxious to get brawl so it's not like I don't know what I'm missing out on. Besides I had much more fun after unlocking the characters then before because it turned out I had a liking for Wolf's play style.
Also about unlocking characters the "natural" way. There are 3 ways to unlock characters. First is through the Subspace Emissary (takes approximately 8 hours), second is through meeting certain requirements in the various single player and vs modes (pretty much the way you unlocked chars in melee) and the third is through certain vs matches (takes less than 2 hours with Lip's Stick Method, which I already described). This is how it breaks down for requirements (number on right = vs matches need to unlock):
SPOILER WARNING! Highlight to see
• Ness: 5 / Reflect 10 projectiles • Marth: 10 / Classic on any difficulty • Luigi: 22 / Classic with No Continues • Falco: 50 / 100-Man Brawl • Captain Falcon: 70 / Classic in 12 minutes or less • Lucario: 100 / All Target Tests complete with same character • Snake: 130 / 15 matches on Shadow Moses Island • R.O.B.: 160 / 250 different trophies • Ganondorf: 200 / Classic on Hard with Link or Zelda • Mr. Game & Watch: 250 / Clear a target test level with 30+ chars • Sonic: 300 / Run an extended distance • Jigglypuff: 350 / Events 1-20 with SSE completion • Toon Link: 400 / Classic with Link after SSE • Wolf: 450 / Boss Rush with Fox
When Sakurai designed how characters were to be unlocked I'm sure he added the vs options for those who wanted to quickly unlock the characters without being forced to play the story mode.

so ya, i got a wii and brawl a couple days back and im kinda eager to get some matches up and going. Brawl Friend Code: 1805-4108-4263 add me so we can smash up.
also, my xfire is darkmeow so you can add me on there and we might be able to start something.
Although I prefer to play in person rather than online because of lag issues as well as most online tournaments having terrible management and/or terrible rules I do play on wifi occasionally when I'm bored because it's always fun to infinite grab someone or suicide kill w/ DDD. Feel free to add my friend code 0173 0959 8218 if you want.
