i am trying to do this tut

but i am stuck on step 5 but i am not sure if i did step 3 and 4 right or not

when i ctrl-click on the alpha 1 thing it makes my whole thing red.... wtf.... >.<

anyone care to explain to me plz!

Now go back to layers palette, make a new layer and rename it as water. Now again go back to the channels palette and Ctrl Click on alpha 1 channel (on which we applied Difference clouds). If you want you can adjust the brightness by Pressing Ctrl L and applying levels on this channel. Now go back to the layers Palette and click on the water layer and fill white colour in the selection. Now change the blending mode of this layer to overlay. save u everyone the time of not clicking on link

Most likely culprits would be you didn't reset colors for differencial clouds, worked in the first layer rather than the gradient layer, or you didn't copy the clouds from the channel layer. (Unless ctrl-lmb also copies everything visible also in CS3, which I still don't own >.>)
