If you want a gaming laptop just buy an AlienWare... of course, get ready to waste 9000 usd lol.

Funny how Alienware didn't state the battery on it, because it would probably last you 3 mins.

I made the mistake of buying a laptop from Alienware long time ago. i thought it was gonna be awesome...

And it was, at least until I started playing fps's and lots of demanding games... It's not that I had crappy hardware or whatever, I mean it was an alienware. Laptops just suck for gaming no matter what.

And this is for everyone reading....... IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

- First it's going to be very expensive. For example your $2800. You could build your own gaming desktop way better than that one for about half of the price.

- Second if you like playing so much that you want to buy a laptop to play, that means you probably already have a desktop and I don't see the point of buying a laptop to play there, just sell your old desktop and build a new and better one.

- Third the battery won't last much, you probably will have to be plugged all the time to play, or else you would play only for 20 minutes.

- It also overheats like crazy. Even my Alienware started halting every 2 hours, the inner fan got screwed and shit like that. So if you want a laptop because it is portable and you can go and play anywhere, it won't work that great, you will still have to be on a desk and probably even buy a fan cooler to put under the laptop or it will overheat too much.

Don't make the mistake I did on buying a gaming laptop unless like some one said early you are willing to pay over $8k for a reeeeealy reliable gaming laptop from a PC gaming builders company. Just don't.

With that $2800 I would make a hardcore gaming desktop and maybe I could still have money to buy a regular laptop that I can carry around for trips and use to IM, surf the web and watch movies.

ATTN CHILDREN: Since Alienware was acquired by Dell, it has become absolute shit. Before it was overpriced shit that performed well and was worth it to anyone willing to burn money. Now, it's shit, in its most quintessential form.

Ignorant statement but oh well. My XPS is in great shape, never had problems with customer service if I ever did need them. Infact DELL actually price matched the machine I was building and built my XPS around it.

One in a million. Obviously they aren't doing that bad if they are still producing and the XPS happens to be a leading gaming machine.

Tons of times user errors leads to the users blaming the computer company. Just because one error happened doesn't mean they are a shit company.

Did you buy insurance? Did you call them and ask for a replacement? Sisters motherboard went down on her xps (laptop) and her secondary laptop that was owned before the xps was bought. Simply gave them a call, they shipped us a box with a shipping label and replaced the laptop free of charge.

I am interested to know how you got a "twisted pile of metal". Please do tell the story.

did i say laptop, i meant desktop. And as soon as my warranty ended it started falling to pieces. Blew a ram stick, wouldn't turn on, would blue screen for random reason, the DVD drive wouldn't open. Yes i cleaned the fan regularly, even bought a can of air to keep dust from settling. Now i use it as nice stand on which to place my my smallest flower pot. It seems much better at that than it ever was at being my compy. The twisted metal was an exaggeration but it might as well be seeing as auto blue screens everytime it turns on without even getting a chance to run windows. I called dell and they said they new the answer to my problem but they couldn't me because my warranty was up, that was when the ram went, i did some googling and found the solution, i think in order to fix it now i'd have to replace my HD which just isn't worth it. I have a policy against putting money into crappy investments.

The only reason i got the thing was because i got swept up in those. DUDE, Im getting a Dell! ad campaign. It was stupid i know but i was like, "With a commercial that good i know im getting quality"....i was wrong.

I am honestly convinced this machine went prehistoric before all this happened (the warranty running up gave this hint). Besides some of the older dell products, if you know what you are shopping for and shop correctly and don't order the cheapest thing you see you won't have a problem.

Dell offers customization to their products. IMO computers should be updated at least every 2 years or so.

EVERY person I know in real life has had problems with theirs and has vowed to never buy one ever again (4-6 cases, off of memory). The 1 in a million is when customers are satisfied, and even then, the internet cannot be trusted.
