because it looks cool and I will eventually need it sometime in the future to do anything. I would buy a new processor but that would mean I would have to buy a new mother board too

Processor needs some work - Dual cores work better with Vista.
RAM is ok, but could use a bit more to run perfect
Video is perfect

Agree with the above. Processor could better, but everything else seems to comply with the requirements.
Re: would my pc be able to run vista without bugs?
new processor,
intel just dropped prices on duo core processors by 30%, so gratz.
or if you're going amd they're always good.
ram, when i upgraded vista i went ahead and got 8 gigs of ram lol and it runs zippidie quick.
if you get processor get x64 and get vista ultimate(warez)
newegg.com = your best friend.

yes it does have a sleek glossy look too it, but if you have xp you can just download a program that makes it look like that, as for what you would use it for in the future i just can't think of anything useful for Vista except DX10 games...meh my new computer will dual boot xp+vista.

Able to run? Yeah, your computer meets the minimum requirements. It is what is called "Windows Vista Capable". Will it perform well? As others have said, upgrade your CPU prior to Vista. Also, 2 Gig memory is lean for that machine - double it.
Vista will run on 512 memory but (and this is a big but) it won't run well. Dell and other OEM's recommend 2 Gig but that too is 'lean'.
One reason: SuperFetch fetches applications and data and feeds them into RAM to make Vista run quicker. This means Vista systems are cache intensive. More RAM means more caching. When you shop for your Dual core CPU pay attention to cache sizes. Intel processors need bigger L2 cache and AMD processors need bigger L1.
David Short (IBM consultant) said, "4Gig may be Vista's sweet spot," in a Computerworld report:
If it were me? I'd hang on to XP for awhile and build a new box on a budget, part by part, with an eye toward having a great Vista box running in 6 months. Better than an okay box today, but that's just me.

Microsoft's on-the-box minimum RAM requirement "really isn't realistic," according to David Short, an IBM consultant who works in its company's Global Services Division. He says users should consider 4GB of RAM if they really want optimum Vista performance. With 512MB of RAM, Vista will deliver performance that's "sub-XP," he warned.

whats the speed of the ram?
667 mhz or higher runs fine
533 mhz or lower it gets pretty slow
This was running on a 2.8 ghz Pentium 4.

QFT, there is no such thing as perfect software that has no bugs. Your system would be able to ron it but I wouldn't recommend it with your config. Stick to XP and when you upgrade/get a new PC then take Vista.
The cake is NO lie
