P.S Grandpa's post are one of the only post that i take time to read cause they always have an interesting story to tell.

That is NOT what I'm saying. I'm saying the threads have no intellectual meaning. If you REALLY think they do, then... how to say this without sounding like an ass... uhhh.... uhhh.... you need to examine the threads closer.

Please read my arguement more carefully, and you'll notice it's not attacking anyone.

Oh ok :3.
Its the interweb people are always acting weird. And if Crazy is like me he probly just reads the last post and post himself :p

I read all post in a thread before posting. I also like reading Puppet's and Grandpa's post. I used to like reading Xemnas' and Dom's post but xem doesn't post enough anymore and Dom has cut down on the sarcastic attacks since he became mod.

Oh, and no offense those spam topics really lack; 'value'. They are as they're called: Spam. Off to see if Gramps posted in the Uni thread.

It's because we're tired of listening to the know-it-all.

This IS the internet. There are things like Google and Wikipedia.

Yet you continue to read Granpa's posts, which are 10 times longer, and confuse 90% of the people on this forum. Seriously, I take the time to read EVERYONE'S posts, even the one's a know are just retarded answers that weren't thought out. People ask questions on a forum, or make a response, and you expect me to sit back and say "well, I know the answer, but I'll just sit here and say nothing while they sit there uninformed." NO, BULLSH*T, 100% PURE COLUMBIAN BULLSHIT! I'm so tired of the lazy philosophy of people on this forum. Learn from others.

It may seem that I'm a know it all. I completely understand that sentiment. In fact, I am not a know it all. I am constantly asking questions. I ask at least 200 questions a day in real life. It is these questions I ask that get me the answers that allow me to make these "know-it-all" posts.

I guess it would be prefered that I joined the crowd that just posts fun forum "games" and mindless nonsense. I guess I should just sit back, post in the "1001 Way To Die" and "Post the Job of the Person Above You" threads, and act like I know absolutely nothing. Yes, that is exactly what the internet was designed for anyway right?

Lol I don't read Grandpa's posts unless they're short. He gets lost in his words I think.

The attitude that comes off your informative posts is what gets me. It always sounds like somewhere in each righteous crusade to save "lazy" people you still find space to be an asshole in the way you write. If you want to be the smart guy go for it, but god damn, please do so in a way that it doesn't seem like you're aiming to show others you are.

Face it, this is just a forum among a billion others on the internet. Just because we don't care to know or read something, or answer someone's question when we're very able, doesn't mean we're the same off the keyboard. People come to the OTL to read about random shit, not strain their minds and seek enlightenment.

That's your opinion. I might get braindead after a while if all I read were PuppetofGaea's posts, but a couple a day while I'm trawling through a hundred threads about the most random shit is refreshing and enlightening.

I don't see where he comes off with an asshole know-it-all attitude. :?

Come on. Threads like, Corrupt A Wish and What Job Fits The Person Above You gets old after about... two posts.

It comes off because humans have pattern recognition. My guess is that Reise knows a few know-it-alls in real life, and they really annoy him. The magic of forums and IMing is that there is no emotion displayed. Plus, since this is a forum, he doesn't know me in real life AT ALL. So, naturally, all he can do is assume. Obviously his assumption is that I'm an asshole know-it-all that doesn't know how to relax and enjoy mindlessness, which is not the case. I just don't go out of my way to comment on mindlessness. I do however go out of my way to do one of the following:

A) Give knowledge where people seek it.
B) Correct a fallacy.
C) Defend myself when others are clearly attacking me.
and D) Post a laugh when I find one.

And how incredibly seriously you're taking it that makes it seem that way. Actually your last post Puppet, kinda drives it home even more.

The funny part is that is specifically targeting you. The fact that you can't just let someone who doesn't want to vegetate speak for himself without critisizing him. The fact that you go out of your way to support laziness with flying colors. The idea that because this is the off-topic lounge, intelligent conversation can't exist.

Reise wrote:Are you some kind of truth-defending internet superhero?

Yes. Yes I am. I am the superhero of hope. The hope that maybe, just MAYBE, I can get some people to use their minds, and encourage them to do more than just spend their days spewing out miscellaneous jobs and ways to die, all the while answering questions people might have.

I am a superhero... I am ANTI-LAZY!

I never really used sites to learn C++. I picked up the O'Rielly book, and another off book. Between the two, I was able to start writing some good stuff pretty quickly.

Also, even though it's more difficult to learn, C is a much better hacking language. Not only because the language itself is basically DESIGNED to write amazing buffer overflows, but because once you wrap your mind around C, all other languages become infinitely easier to grasp.

Wow.

People here "speak their minds" all the time, and it goes without any words from me. Intelligent conversation happens here on a daily basis. But. I chose you to call out because you made "correcting lazy people" a habit, and it became annoying. But here you are acting like the last bastion of intelligence, riding as high as you could possibly get on your horse.

THAT is what pisses me off. It's not that you like to feel smart, or you choose to "speak your mind" it's that you make it into some kind of glorious mission that only you are capable of. You would expect somebody who constantly corrects people to at least apologize for being an ass-hat, but you continue with this shit. I had thought you were going to be somebody cool I could enjoy reading posts from, but after this you're just another joke.

But no worries, you can do what you like. I'm no mod but I feel it's good for others to know my standing. I'll do my best to ignore your condescending posts from now on.

I will apologize for the following:

A) If I seem like I'm being an ass-hat through my posts, I apologize.
B) If I'm offending anyone in this forum, I apologize.
C) If you REALLY think I think that I'm the "last savior of forum hope", I apologize.
D) If you feel that anyone who takes something upon themself because no one else will do it is an evil doing, I apologize.
E) If you have had your world ruptured by "know-it-alls", I'm sorry, but this isn't my fault.

What I will not apologize for is speaking my mind. See, this all started with you calling me a know-it-all in the "blackheads" post. What I'm surprised about is that you're targeting me, but take no guilt in your own "ass-hat" behaviors. I don't see you apologizing for anything crude you have said. If you don't like me, that's fine. If you hate me with a passion, that's fine. But what's not ok is attacking me endlessly with nothing but your hatred for the style of person known as a "know-it-all" that you've linked me to. I have been perfectly nice on this forum. I haven't snapped at anyone (except Granpa back in my ignorant days, boy was that a stupid mistake). But then you start attacking me, and when I defend myself, you call ME the ass-hat. I'm sorry, I'm done here.

Thanks, by the way, Puppet is of those whom I consider a "stranger in my gate". All he need do is lay hand on the the center post of my 'tent' and I will die prior to seeing harm come to him. It's a Bedeouin thought (nomadic desert tribe) were people under attack can flee into the tents of their neighbors and expect shelter from harm. It used to be a common thing to be able to rely on each other, and in this I speak for me and mine.

-Granps

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can control their whole bodies. Also a ship is very big, and it is pushed by strong winds. But a very small rudder controls that big ship, making it go wherever the pilot wants. It is the same with the tongue. It is a small part of the body, but it brags about great things. A big forest fire can be started with only a little flame. The tongue is like a fire.

You guys get back on-topic!!!</spank>

Dude yuo should lower your standards. I started learning XHTML about about 2 weeks ago and it is easy. I only practice for about 1-2 hours a day and i have learned a lot of stuff.

I know what your saying XHTML has nothing to do with this but it does. Every language takes time to learn and you have to start small. You should start with a small program like one that refreshes the browser window or a timer.

Heres a tip thats helping me. Go to a find a c++ conding forum and search around. Compile as many c++ tutorial websites as you can ( using google or any searh engines) and start reading. You have to admit the fact that c++ is one of the hardest languge and you won't be ready to hack for atleast after a year of training.... ( i've tried before but stop trying because i was too busy for it)

Your going to need to sacrifise time to learn how to *hack*.

Think about all the things that your going to need before you make a big desicion like this.

The only people i can think of that know some coding language are Cruor and NuclearSilo.
Maybe you should ask them :).

I loled. There are a LOT harder languages than C++. In fact, besides Visual Basic and Python, it's the easiest. It may be one of the most complex (through it's potential), but it's not hard. Try learning something like Perl, or C, or Basic, or Cobalt, or Fortran, or Pascal. You want hard, try Machine Code (which Doom 3 was compiled in).

That really isnt very hard if you put the time into it.

You just gotta make some pirate friends =P

Piracy forums are waaaaaaay too famous right now and you can learn to crack stuff really easy if they loved you enough to teach/assist you..which is kinda fun..you just gotta prove yourself.

Hacking is a whole other world though...to even begin to perform some kinds of hacking you have to reach like the ultimate level of no-outside-life-whatsoever.

I once tried it..just wasnt my thing...too much crap to learn..and too many languages as others stated.

I tried to learn how to "hack" once...and the result: dozens of piracy sites bookmarks...lots of pirate friends..lots of crap to learn (almost like school)..so when the real school came i just gave up.

One thing thats pissing me off though is that i nearly spent 1~2 years of my life down that road and i havent perfected any programming language so far...well...i think i was a little good at C# but i sucked at all the others...was too lazy/didnt have much time to learn.

TBH its not really worth the hassle mate...unless you have loads of free time.

Note: All of the above -> IMO

Visual C++.Net in 24 Hours
by Richard Simon

ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0672323230

ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780672323232

Publisher: Sams

Number Of Pages: 413

Publication Date: 2002-04-19

This book is for developers who want to develop .NET applications using Visual C++ 7.0 as the programming language. It covers the new features of Visual C++ which support .NET while lightly covering the new MFC and ATL enhancements as they relate to the .NET architecture, but focuses heavily on developing for the .NET framework. The book takes the reader through a simple .NET application, a more advanced application, and Internet development in .NET. The reader is also shown the differences between managed and unmanaged Visual C++ code and how to integrate them--critical information for migrating legacy C++ applications to the .NET architecture.

Inside the C++ Object Model
by Stanley B. Lippman

ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0201834545

ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780201834543

Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional

Number Of Pages: 304

Publication Date: 1996-05-13

Bestselling author Stanley B. Lippman's Inside the C++ Model provides valuable insight into some of the internal workings of the C++ language. This book is a product of a decade of research at Bell Labs (where Lippman worked with C++ inventor Bjarne Stroustrup) and Lippman's considerable C++ expertise. Written with the experienced C++ programmer in mind, this book looks at how key language features are implemented underneath the hood and provides some guidelines when designing C++ classes. This title first examines how C++ objects work--showing the differences between C++ structures and classes. The author looks carefully at the varieties of C++ constructors, including default and copy constructors, data members, and initialization. Subsequent sections cover inheritance, including virtual inheritance, and the inner details that will help you create effective and robust data types. The author frequently points out inefficiencies (and efficiencies) that can occur when instantiating objects. The book closes with a tour of more advanced C++ language features, such as templates, exception handling, and run-time type information. This book can help make you the resident C++ language expert at your programming shop. --Richard Dragan
