NOOB stories

hmm. First trade run. My and old group of friends, 8 of us, just hit lvl 20-22. Decided to celebrate with a trade run... dam we got owned... but not by thives mind you. After getting dw side of the ferry, we were dessimated by bug ghosts... XD. 4 traders and 4 hunters dead.

Another one would be running around stealing ppl's monster scroll monsters. Ran into the chin tomb and saw like 50 yeoha's. Got a global from all that too.

My first character got to 16 with all skills in every tree. Man it was fun switching imbues and weps. COurse weak as shit but fun.

I do miss NPC thieves in the old days. Was a challenge to survive grinding near ferries. Now the roads of sro are freakin empty as hell. Ran from dw to jangan and back and not a single trader, hunter or thief.

Oh and a new noob story. Yesterday some stupid euro (rogue xbow + Cleric) joined our pt at karras. We told him to go cleric since his xbow kept kd and pushing the monsters away making our team of china nukers useless and bored. He agreed. EXCEPT like half the clerics, he had no idea what to do except stand there and cast bless every few mins. We told him to heal us but he wouldn't. So we found a pt giant, let him attk it, than ran away. Needless to say he died within 3 hits. Well he PM-ed me saying he wanted to pvp at dw. I came and owned his ass. He got pissed, called for a guildmate to double team me. I didnt' realize it at first than died a few times as they killed me as soon as i got back up. So... I cast snow shield and kd + stab. Within 5 mins it was my turn to kill. Took out his mate, dash nuke him, dash back and nuke his mate. Eventually they had enough and said 1 vs 1. I agreed. Buffed up. Started fighting his guildmate when he attacked me. This time i noticed and dashed to the city. Came back out and killed them both again. Moral of story.... Noobs are fun to kill... even funner when they call their mates and still can't kill you. XD

oh and I was like 2 lvls above him and 1 lvl over his mate. Both were roguexbow + cleric .

When I first started, I was convinced that the mangyangs were to the north of Jangan. I'd run out the south gate, run around fighting for a while, and when I'd look at the map I got confused on how I got all the way down south.

lol as I read most of these I realized I too went through the same things,
for instance not adding stat points till around lvl 25, right clicking my skills instead of using the hotkeys
but my favorite was when my friend told me to watch out for pick-up pets because they stole your goods (not knowing he meant your drops)and i would run away when ever a monkey or squirrel would get near thinking it would steal the things in my inventory

loads of stories. When just Xian existed i had a hybrid int glavier, with light imbue, seemed so m,much harder to level then >.>

getting to level 10 was AMAZING (woo i got a horse) and my mate give me a 16+3 glavie and told me not to sell it. shiny weapon xD

the level 20 grind seemed like it would never come, an i really wanted to be a thief! I remember 'collecting 200 chakji eyes' at ferry at level 19, finishing the quest and getting to be a thief, just to get owned by hunters level 40. And the only bad player was a bot called Snow. bots were unheard of.

Item mall introduced, selling monkeys for 1 million gold (thats was an absolute fortune) and u couldn't go anywhere without seeing a harmony circle (in fact, people used to make a circle to pvp in, at jangan south ^^)

noob mistakes, jeez i made a lot, i kept pressing 'i' to go into inventory an manually use pots (no autopot feature then) and using 's' to use my skills. i didn't know about using the hot key bar

Was wearing a pvp cape, but I didnt know it was a pvp cape at the time, I just thought it was a cool accesory, so I was grinding and was wondering why this one guy kept killing me.

2. i though if mangyangs were just decorations
3. i thought all monsters were same level ( learned the hard way)
4. didnt know about masteries
5. didnt know about str/int ( i farked up and made a hybrid by mistake when my friend told me to add str or int )

7. i thought you can only get horses from npc
edit 8. i went to hotan and pressed the button that makes you spawn there everytime and i had no money so i was stuck, luckily back then people were nice and someone named BigBoobs gave me 10k

+1, and when i was a newbie i thought, when your char die you need to start over from lvl 1, so when i was lvl 3-4 i runned when it was 2-3 mobs on me, and i didnt know how to use auto pot until lvl 30. and i learned to eat herbs when i was lvl 20..

I was lvl 39 before I learned about the teleporters, and the ability to spawn in Donwhang or Hotan.

I REALLY hated dying.

I also took a loong time to find out you could scroll down in the skills menu.

well i was scared from return scrolls, didnt know what they did, so i allways interupted them because i thought my char would be deleted, didnt know about teleport, didnt know about stat points till lvl 10, didnt know that you could scroll down @ skill page and didnt know about skilling, i skilled Force to ress people and swithed between al weapons, never lvl a skill upp, caus i thought it didnt change much and was a waste of sp, so i only had lvl 1 skills

Friend got me to play gave me advice add str or int and set up my low lvl glaive skills which I used all the was till scorpions when I saw another player throwing his glaive and I was I want to do that and figured out I can add more skills than what I had.



The other day outside of sam with my wiz wearing a pvp cap and the noob char goes pink and runs back in town then come back out and repeats. So i waited when I saw the nood come running selected him and when he went pink rooted him and let other people kill him. He kept coming back out and doing it time after time. Fire trap was also fun set it right at the entrance. Needless to say after about 10+ times of this he started cursing me calling me a noob wiz lol. What he was trying to do was to get ppl to go murderer.

When i first saw a monkey char sitting down i kept wondering pming him asking how do i hold my weapon like that. Same thing with the floaty chick xD dam i was soo noob. Oh yea and my first char was 1:1 blader nuker in garms. Pure ownage lol. Needless to say i deleted him at lvl 32 and started over as a pure str blader then i quit that at 80 for pure str warrior ^^

When i first started, my character was stuck in Fixed visual mode (where your char only sees ahead). when i was running south of jangan, a manyang was behind me. i panicked because i didnt kno how to turn around and it was following me.

The first time when I played sro (2005) . I was like lvl 16 at that time and some high level told me that.... If you let the mobs kill you, you'll get million of exp and can lvl to. 60 in 1 min..... But thats like the opposite.... I die and lose exp and didn't get mill exp.....

Hmm lets see, when I first started on Silkroad in the Alps back before the Euro update (this was during the 80 cap though).

- I thought White Tigers were real tough monsters.
- I tried finding Tiger Girl on the actual Tiger Mountain (where it shows on the map), thinking she would be a pushover since I saw that she got killed quickly.
- The floating chinese character was neat, I thought you had to do something special to float like that.
- Me royally screwing up that character entirely by not SP farming, getting all the force trees like Ice, Fire, Light, and Force with all the weapon trees too. Not to mention, making its STR and INT 70:70; thinking I was making a well balanced character.
- Having two SOS spears and not using them (I didn't sell them though because I knew they were important/rare somehow since I didn't see everyone walking around with them)
- Didn't know about teleport and stat points until level 13 or so.

Thats all I can remember. I still have that character on Alps too; but I've long since rerolled on Odin and I've been there ever since.

When I first started, my friend told me the people outside jangan were PKers, so everytime I went outside the gates, I started running like a crazy mofo, because I thought they would kill me. I also added INT if I was short on MP, so I ended up with a totally messed up build. It took some time to find out there were more skills, if you scrolled down, and ofcourse, we all hated the 1* popping high lvl thieves.

On first trade, i thought NPC thieves are real players, and i was like almost all players in the server are thieves, but later i realized they were NPC, on my second trade, i was doing 1* also, and i high lvl thieve was following, so i got scared and attacked him first, with bless shield on, he on hit me, i got ressed and again i went to attack and got killed, it happened like 4-5 times i got ressed and still went after him, tell i lost trace of him ..
