1984
1984
I've notice quite a few references of it ingame and on the forum. Just wondering how many others know of this book. I've seen stuff like "big brother is watching over you" and ign like "thoughtcrime" etc.

Oh such a good book.
We had to read it in AP last year, and I can honestly say that was the only book I enjoyed reading.
Well..that and Death of a Salesman.

Yeah like when he buys a cheap hooker who smells like cheap perfume, and later turns out being an old lady.
Its like all SRO hookers are the same man.
...Actually no, i haven't seen any references in game or on here

Re: 1984
It's a classic book that most end up reading during their highschool education. You'll see some people have characters referencing to Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, Fahrenheit 451, and maybe even Animal Farm [another good book by George Orwell.] People pull their names from previous experiences. Although most would like to say they hated their reading assignments, a damn good book is still a damn good book, and it will stick with you

Well, Big Brother has been watching us lately, with these weekly bot bans, but not to an extent similar to the novel. It's not really more of a reference but similarity. Thoughtcrime in the game and on the forums can be similar to "wordcrime" or "photocrime", where people scrutinize every thing you say and every screen shot you post, determined to find out if you've committed a crime, popularly known as botting.
