I'm curious. What genre does this "stuff" (I can't call it music -.-) fit into :?

Code: Select all

My friend is obsessed with this guy and I'm just wondering what genre it is.

Wow PuppetOfGaea first of all a big THANKS for creating this thread. I pretty much grew up with Techno or at least technoid music, that's why I especially like alot of the mid and late 90s tracks. Since I am from Germany and the "scene" for this kind of music was HUGE here most of the stuff I post will either be from Germany or tracks that have been very popular here. That doesn't mean that you won't be able to recognize any of the tracks, some of them have made it all over the world.

Funny thing is that a few months ago I stumbled upon a few hungarian, czech and polish guys on Youtube who had LOADS of the old tracks including videos in brilliant quality, most of them recorded from german television back when they were aired alot. This made me want to make a thread where you could post your "childhood memory" of music videos, but in the end I didn't do it.

Youtube can be really amazing to find stuff you nearly forgot about. But these guys' accounts seem to have been blocked and their content deleted :/

So yeah, I find this a really great idea. I think I will make a post from time to time featuring a certain artist or covering a certain theme including 1-5 vids and a little commentary. Most of the stuff will be pre-2000 and representing techno, trance and similar music from the european scene of that decade. The 90s made alot of the greatest tunes, hymns, anthems or whatever you want to call them for technoid music and that's why I value them alot.

@ Stress: Haha oh my god How much is the fish? by Scooter XDDD

Well they pretty much helped to push the techno scene in Germany in the mid-90s but they've always rather been treated mainstream and more of a joke on parties and such. Their music is pretty simple and their shouted vocals can become pretty annoying.

Anyways, that's what english Wiki would fit them into: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scooter_%28band%29

As you can see they did alot of stuff, from Happy Hardcore to "Dance" ... now they jumped on the jumpstyle bandwagon.

Welcome to the thread MonstaH, glad you enjoy it. I look forward to your submissions.

Well everyone, I have some great news. I started skimming through the crypts of my music, and I was going through some of my favorite mixes (the hour long kind), and I ran into one of my favorites of all time (it just so happened the be the only mix of his ON youtube... I know right?). The artist's name is "DJ Doboy" and he does a LOT of mixes, of which I own all of them. So, I present to you one of my favorite mixes of his "DJ Doboy Vocal Edition 04"

Code: Select all

Puppet's Commentary: I'm going to start off by saying the following; start from 20:00 for a f*cking AMAZING experience. My favorite 3 songs on this mix are all in a row. This mix is over an hour long, and although I like certain songs more than others, I definitely like the whole thing. I'll leave more commentary to the viewers :-)

And if you finish that, and still want more, I'm going to add a few fun things today. Since I'm going to be posting a few songs, I'll leave the commentary to you guys. To start us off, here's "Dread Rock - Paul Oakenfold".

Code: Select all

Next we have "Listen Feel Enjoy - DJ Roland Kenzo":

Code: Select all

After that is "Million Tears - Groove Coverage":

Code: Select all

Followed by "I'm Your Basscreator - Basshunter":

Code: Select all

And to top it all off "Touch Me - Rising Star (Play this from 4:00):

Code: Select all

Enjoy guys! And this is my thread so F*CK SPOILERS!

Oi,

Not only would this sentence piss me off if it was directed at others because they were tying to help with spoilers, but since i was the only person in the thread to have used a spoiler it means it's directed at me.

Spoilers are things people do to try and reduce clutter and make browsing easier, so respect when people are trying to help. If you don't feel that way, don't think you can turn that into a negative outcry

the original is very good as well, but i find this one to be more in my taste.

Code: Select all
ClubRaiders - Move Your Hands Up (DJ Seduction Mix)
another decent mix

Code: Select all
Darren Styles - You Are My Phantasy
brilliant

Code: Select all
Hixxy, Dougal & Gammer - Phaze 2 Phaze
^^ skip to around 1:00 if u want

Ok here comes my first submission... a project called "B.B.E." consisting of three french DJs who made, in my opinion, some of THE trance tracks of the 90s. What I like about them is that they're not as "cheezy" as alot of other trance artists, especially current ones, are.

B.B.E. - Seven days & one week ('96)

Code: Select all

Comment: This track is a true classic. It was their debut track and in my opinion it has everything a good trance track needs. I also like the video, how the girl wanders through the busy city fits the music well.

B.B.E. - Flash ('97)

Code: Select all

Comment: Another totally amazing track... how they build up that slightly psychedelic atmosphere is spooky :o ... also heading for the climax at its best.

Feel free to comment, hope some of you like it.
@ Puppet: Paul Oakenfield made some good stuff :)

This comment was directed at nobody, it was a general statement of "f*ck spoilers" because I felt like saying it :-P

Wow, so... for the first time ever I just creamed my pants listening to a song... I wish I was joking.

Here it is, the song of all songs that literally made me cream my pants:

Code: Select all

At 3:32 I got goosebumps, at 4:12 I saw god, and then by 4:30, I creamed myself. Enjoy guys, because this is officially the best beat I have ever heard.

O_O WOW

It's been well over 10 years since I've heared that song the last time!

This was the very first song I had in my life, I was like 7 years old and taped it from the radio, it was the only song I had and I literally listened to it over and over again for months. wow, just wow. Forgot about it completely.

Back then at that time this song was the coolest thing in my life.

Well, it's been a while since I've posted any music, and part of that is due to my Hard Drive crashing a couple of weeks ago. I currently only have my music backed up on my I-pod, which sucks, because getting it off of there without just erasing it is quite the challenge. Anyway, I'm going to start posting new songs when I can, because some of you were asking for more.

Today's song is a Euro favorite of mine. They don't actually have the real version on YouTube, but they do have a mix that has the same beat, just with some useless extras tacked on. The song is called "I got you - La Dance Inc."

Code: Select all

Puppet's Commentary: This song is considered Eurodance, and is among one of my favorites of the genre. Once you reach 2:08 (feel free to skip to it) you get teased with the main beat, and it slowly builds up. This song has to have one of the most effective slow buildups I know of, and it really makes it ear candy. Enjoy guys, and I look forward to posting more trance greatness!

Get a hold of Pre-2005 Sensation Black music. Most of the music before 2005 is Hard Trance, not the new "Hard Style".

Today I'm going to post a couple of songs from a "Band" that a lot of you have probably heard of. I personally have some negative feelings for them purely because they have become WAYYY too mainstream, but they are still good. The "band" is called "Infected Mushroom", and their music is considered Techno.

Becoming Insane
Code: Select all

Psycho
Code: Select all

I Wish
Code: Select all

Puppet's Commentary: First of all, for the record, I'd like to say I listened to these guys WAY before they became popular. I exclusively used them as driving music, as I don't really like Techno for easy listening. That being said, I find them to be GREAT driving music. They do a great job of giving their music a very solid feel, instead of a lot of techno which just feels like a bunch of beats slapped together. Enjoy, and they do have a LOT more songs, so if you like them check them out.

Don't forget to leave comments/show me to some love!
