Is the Wolf worth it?

I currently have a level 18 pure int Archer (shifting to the rest Str based off of the posts here). I was wondering if it is worth it for an Archer to have a Wolf? I can definitely see how it would help a melee fighter, but would it get killed to easily with an Archer? Also, when a wolf dies, is he gone for good? I am halfway to being able to afford a wolf.

a wolf isn't worth getting unless you're lvl 35+, and if it dies, you can revive it for 50k by buying a grass of life from the stables

why do u say its not worth getting unless ur lvl 35, the sooner u get ur wolf, the better, that way it gets closer to ur lvl faster, ok, and to answer ur question btw, there is more of a risk of it dying when ur a bowman, but u can set ur wolf to not atk what u atk, and as u atk things ur wolf will lvl up, and pretty soon, the monsters u fight wont do much dmg to ur wolf, a lvl 20 wolf can withstand atks from lvl 30 monsters, lol. but ya, once ur wolf is up to ur lvl (or 3 lvls under) u can make it offensive again, and then just make sure u have pots for ur wolf as well, its all at the stable, grass of life to bring it back to life, then the healing pots and the status pots, those are kind of a waste to get unless ur a high enough lvl to fight the scorpians or taoists, cause anything below that doesnt really do much status dmg, lol, if i failed to answer any questions, please add a reply with anything i left out.

P.S. wolves are freakin sweet

there might be the problem, that if there are lets say 3-4 agressive mobs close to each other and you attack one with your bow, the wolf will run to this one so the other mobs will attack it

this wont hurt him much if the mobs arent too high compared ti his lvl though

but in the start you have to be careful, and better let your wolf just stand around you. dont let him attack

Everyone should get a wolf if they can afford IMO. Speeds up lvling, saves money for skills, attracts more mobs if you're all str which you can handle and the list goes on

i dont like wolf, i train in caves and its a hassle to look out for and pot it.
Its weak and takes long to lvl. I sold mine at lvl 40 :) so ya

does he auto attack stuff? or how do i control him ?

also, omg, just saw someone say you cant use a wolf thats higher level than you!?! :shock:

i wanted a level 4X wolf to rape bad guys for me

Im pure int and my wolf worth the money... He is my HP in the first hits and if you learn to use im he can spair you a lot of pots. Actually he his lvl 27 and i dont know how it is in higher levels but for now it is realy cool! he never died from a mob yet. I think that for a bow char the wolf isnt that much useful...

Well...if your a nuker then the wolf isnt really helpful :/
you kill the mob before the wolf even gets to it

but u still lvl him up ^_^

might be useful when ur getting raped by more than 2/3 mobs?

with wolf you can manage the mobs arround you! i dont use it for make damage! but i dont think that he is realy useful in higher level ^_^ just dont know... but he can do more things than atack

the only thing it can help you with aot of mobs is tanking lol

umm..first of all, if u get ur wolf to your lvl, ur wolf can easily solo mobs around you, and also yes, ur wolf does more, if u get your wolf to lvl 60 you will be able to ride it, just like tiger girl and uruchi.

ur only joking that you can ride the wolf at 60, i saw this turkish guy with his slightly bigger wolf killing ujigis with one bite and he wasnt riding it, and then he stalled it on the spot and i saw it was lvl 64

you know...he doesnt HAVE to ride on it they arent conjoined.
but i dont really think its possible to ride on them(monkies have the riding icon as well but you cant ride on them can you

as far as we know you CANNOT ride on wolves....

maybe when they hit 90 and get the cool armor you can... but not now...

and im a pur str blader and i love my wolf... he helps my leveling speed TONS...

i just wish he has auto pot...

if you learn how to use him right and he is your level... you can kill multiple mobs at once... wolves are teh pwnzor

and about the exp thing
wolfs get there own exp and so do you...
when ever EITHER one of you kill something you both get the full exp

Ya when the area is fairly empty and mobs are abundant.

Actually..

The wolf is really usefull for a nuker. When ur hunting an agro mob, and the place is kinda crowded with monsters. U target one, activate ur nuke, and the wolf will already run to the mob when ur uke isn’t done chargin. So other monsters around the one u targeted will go for the wolf, and u can take them down 1 by 1. I’m assuming that your wolf I able to tank those mobs, which it will be when it is the same or around your level.

Oh and btw, the wolf riding myth, has been long busted. (ksro screen of lvl 80 wolfs etc, button still greyed out.)

I frequently use my wolf to pull multiple agro mobs. I send him after one at range, running past other agro mobs (Mujigis typically). Switch to a new target, use both shouts, and the other two are dead, I never got hit once. I've also used it to tank a giant mujigi once, that I peeled off a bot, while I nuked it to death. I think it was bugged somehow though, as I've tried to duplicate it to no avail. =(

Also, I've had my wolf since 16, and can count on one hand how many times he has died (3) on our trip to 47.

mines died 3 times from 15-21

am running around demon horses, and he gets attacked by invisble things?!? :shock:

theres nothing around him, but damage keeps displaying over him, and health going down

Definitely true. Had my wolf from lvl 1 (when i was lvl 5). It has died 2 times now. Wolfs tank like hell.. I use it like I stated for agro mobs, it takes 4 at a time, runs back to me and I waste them all. Gotta love wolfs, and nukers whom use them :p

And yeah, guess its a bug. I sometimes make my wolf attack a giant while im working on some other monster, when I move to the giant the wolf has done like a couple of k’s damage, ill have a go and finish the remaining 95% of the giant. Funny thing is, I do way more damage then the wolf in this fight, but the giant keeps attacking my wolf and not me :/ verrryy handy

The wolf is very useful even to pure int's, when you nuke a monster and it just barely dies because it has like 100 hp left, it's already there and biting it's rear

Lag, or lost packets. Basically, there *IS* a mob there, but you can't see it because your client never updated to show it. It's happened to me a few times, and all you can do is look around for a mob standing still but doing attack animation, that's your culprit. If you don't see one, run away, it'll stop eventually.

On a side note, a stack of large convoy animal kits is like 25k or so, and at level 47 it heals about half of my wolfs health. I rarely ever need them, except when fighting mobs w/ ranged attacks (Ultra Blood Devils, Ishades, Big White Spiders), but having them has saved my wolf from dying once or twenty times.

I am an archer, wolf is now lvl 53, and finally does more damage than my black hawk! Too bad, I can't cape with him.... He can take a pounding from Devil Yetis!

im a nuker and i find my wolf very useful. At lvl 31 not only does he have a ton of tanking power, he can also do the last hits on stuff that barely stays alive after a nuke. Ex: ongs barely stay alive after a nuke. My wolf can finish them off. Same goes for flowers whenever i cant 1-hit them. I dont have to use lion shout and wate mp anymore.... and he gets good training

. Also when monsters attack me and him we can tank 6-7 mobs combined very easily and i can kill them with some light nukes and my wolf hitting them.
