56k = dial up speed. For the people that dont have high speed internet, its a warning that the pictures in the thread will take forever to download.

its just a warning where there are big files coming up
some ppl have a bad connection,or horrible internet and wont be able to see the images

56k is "56 kilobits per hour". It refers to your internet connection speed. If there are lots of images to be loaded, then you put a 56k warning because it takes a long time to load images at that speed.
