2 years back when i opened up my bank of america account
had the same problem it was in florida too lol

They get random pieces of information and call your house as an official, usually the bank, saying "is this mrs rainigul of birmingham alabama, d.o.b 1-15-1995? this is the bank regarding your line of credit with us, just to make sure I have the right person could you please confirm your mother's maiden name and SIN?" Try opening an account at the video rental store, it's more complicated than giving a random number, and that isn't even for the government.
