you can see all the enemies on the screen no random encounters, several different characters, innovative storyline, and it made x-plays (very Popular game show)

I'll add Tenchu 2, Silent Hill 1 and 2 and Streets of rage(1). Big +1 to pokemon, those games are incredibly addicting, too bad that stupid save battery always fails after 1-2 years, whiping your savegames and making the original cartridge useless

i remeber playing a pretty good rpg, it's called Silver. though my version was in german >.< (dun worry i've seen screenshots with english) so i never really got al the details of the storyline. none the less it was very nice even without knowing sh!t of waht they're saying...

and don't worry, the game is alot better than it sounds on wikipedia.

Definitely Knights of the Old Republic.
It doesn't really matter if you are into Star Wars (well if you are you have probably completed the game innumerable times )

Jade Empire and pretty much everything released by BioWare..

If you like real time strategy i recommend Rise of Nations.
