I don't really think Turkey belongs in the Eurocup tbh. Nothing against the nation, it's just... they ain't really related to anything European.

Constantinople was as much Europe as Rome, in fact Constantinople was more powerful than Rome during the Middle Age that's why it's fall was such a hard hit for the western civilization (the gate to the trade with Asia was in there after all, which helped its influence to grow over the rest of Europe).

Anyway, I just doubt that Turkey doesn't have absolutely no influence of the former Byzantium.
