These events are not impossible.

I dont know how the allignment of everything will effect the earth but people who actually research this stuff do, I wouldnt be surprised if the earth gets screwed over.

Matthew 24:32-36
"Now let the fig tree teach you its lesson: when its branches begin to sprout and leaves appear, you know that summer is approaching.
In the same way, when you see all these things, you are to know that the time is near, right at the door.
Yes! I tell you [*Verily I say] that this people will certainly not pass away before all these things happen.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
But when that day and hour will come, no one knows -- not the angels in heaven, not the Son, only the Father."

While in my youth I was taught that the symbol of National Israel was the fig tree. It was speculated further that one generation = 40 years. Thus the end of the world would come in 1988. How did I miss the "no one knows" part? Looking at the the things that were prophesied thousands and thousands of years ago startled me and I (like many) missed the actual message, "No one knows."

A more literal translation of the verse (if we still accept 1948 as the time the 'fig tree' budding) would be 'at least one member of that generation will be alive to see the fulfillment'. Yes, I'm hedging here and admit it. Eschatology is the study of end time events. Too many ppl say they know when they don't. Me? I don't know nuthing.

One learns to read scriptures in a specific way -- there are parallel passages for reason.
The Word is studied 'here a little, there a little' and 'line upon line' and 'precept upon precept'.

Here then is something that I learned (not sure what it means)

I'm somewhat hampered by literalism so from the above it seems to me that there are in fact four possible 'times' that can apply to the end of days:

• Even (also called Eventime),
• Midnight,
• Cockcrow
• Morning.

Recall though that the Jewish calendar and thoughts about what constitutes a 'day' is different than ours.

Many interpret these verses to mean "The destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans". They say the sun was reflected off the shields of the Romans and this was what was meant by prophecies referring to the end of the sun. The apostles were, as preachers, to fill the place which Jesus had occupied among the people, only that the testimony was to extend much farther; The gospel being preached in all nations before the end came.

He commanded the Porter in particular to watch. To me, the 'porter' is the one who carries but it can also mean a person who has charge of a door or gate; doorkeeper. Speaking poetically, I want to be a door in the Kingdom of God. So it has special impact.

As for the Mayan prophecies of 2012 being the actual date? If I ignored the "no man knows" statements again -- they'd make sense to me too. Personally I'm hoping for my lifespan to be extended (and for me to be allowed to live in comfort for this) so that I can see it. But who knows? Certainly not me. I doubt we will be 'saved' by worshiping things created:
