How can my friend find her WEP Key?
Me and my friend want to play Mario Kart Wi-Fi on the DS. She cannot find her WEP Key though. She knows how to get it, but she doesn't know her ID and password to login and get her WEP Key. She uses Verizon DSL. She has no router. How can she find her ID and password to login on 192.168.1.1 to find her WEP Key?

Uh... if she has no router (a wireless one specifically) how does she even intend to play it? Unless she's using the USB stick in which case she doesn't need a WEP key.
As for the key itself, if the computer's using a WEP key, just copy it from there.

She has a modem only. She is only using the internet for 1 computer.
Thats why she doesn't need a router. She doesn't know what is her ID and password though. Is it somewhere on the modem?

Nintendo has a website dedicated to the how-to-get-online-with-DS.
Didn't worked for me though. >> Gave up on it.

If there's no router there should be no WEP key, it would be something else assigned from her ISP?
I'm not sure though, i've never had DSL and I don't know anyone personally with it either. The cable internet company in my region pretty much has a monopoly on the service.

Is it wireless? If you answer yes to this, it IS a router. (they do come combined ya know) If it has a) a WEP key AND b) a usernmae password required when doing multiple connections to it, she won't be able to use it to get her DS online.

Re: How can my friend find her WEP Key?
WEP is for security, you have to configure your wireless connection (or wired too, wouldnt know) with that key to access the router to connect to the internet etc.
Obviously if she doesn't have a router you can't play mario kart, and obviously she needs a router that supports wi-fi
If you were wrong and she does have a router miraculously, just look for a small hole somewhere behind the router and stick a toothpick or something in it, that should reset all the settings, then you just have to configure the user id/pw for her isp in the router settings, and set your own security measures.. then set your own wep key, even though its useless if you just set up a mac adress filter..

You have to login to to your router to get your WEP.
If you've never logged in to it it should be
id:admin
pass:password
I think thats the default.

She does have a router as somebody already pointed out as '192.168.1.1' is a home router address.
Open up Internet Explorer (configuring my router was the longest 10 min of my life because of IE) , type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit enter then you will get the log in page. Now depending on your router the password will differ. It would either be ID: admin PW: password (as .rek already said, or ID: admin PW: admin. After that it shouldn't be too hard.. I took a screenshot of what my Security page looks like.

And hell, this shit works in Firefox too. Just realised.

Changes with the hardware, usually written in the manual. By default, I don't have a password, I just leave the field empty.
