Well... Concrete (beton) floors are said to disturb your signal quite heavy.

Has the problem started only recently?
I'm going to assume that the answer is no, and that the problem didn't just start happening.

SO... Upstairs (the problem) computer is VISTA
Downstairs is XP Pro
Wireless for both (interference from concrete & cement ≠ problem)

We are trying to focus on what is called "The Fault Domain".
Diag Question: Does the computer connect well to other sites?
Since your PING shows similar results for both, the answer is yes.
We can probably rule out Wireless Interference (but more information can be found > HERE < )

I'd tend to agree with !G4! it could be a general "Vista" type problem if it wasn't the fact that you only have 1Gig memory installed. But be sure you are running in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

Grandpa's Quick Solution/Suggestion:
Buy more memory for your comp. 4Gig is good, but 2 will do.
Free Fix? Optimize your computer for performance, lower all your vid settings ingame, check your swap-file size & speed up your Hard Drive (optimization).

I really think you'll need to spend a penny or two here.

I also have Vista and have a similar problem. I can play just fine for quite a while, but if I get around too many other players, the game stometimes lags hard for like 30, 60, 90 seconds... then sometimes I DC and sometimes I don't. My game doesn't freeze... there is just no activity... no network traffic. It's like the server has just stopped talking to my computer.

If this is a problem directly related to Vista (or Vista 64 in my case) then it has to do with the new networking stack built into Vista... but since this is the ONLY game I have a problem with, I think the problem is either my ISP's connection to Korea or it's a problem with Silkroad. Maybe it's both.

Underneeth we just have 512 RAM so i don't think that is the problem...
My computer is totaly in dutch so can you tell me what those "Swap-files" are and where i can find them? and i just have graphics and resolution low.

:D :D Thanx for all this information to all of you :D :D
i'm sure it's gonna work sometime

EDIT: Reply to starrie: yes there is concrete underneeth but the signal doesnt have to go through couse its under all

"Underneeth we just have 512 RAM"

But the computer downstairs is Windows XP
Vista takes more memory :P
For instance, Dell offers a Windows Vista Capable configuration that isn't capable of much, according to what Dell says about it on its Web site: "Great for ... Booting the Operating System, without running applications or games."

4 GB May be Vista's 'Sweet Spot' <~~~~~ [click] 4 is good, but 2 will do.

Dell recommends 2GB minimum of system memory.

If you still have questions / doubts about if it is a 'wireless proximity' issue or a 'Vista machine memory' issues, here's what you do ~~~>
No Cost diagnostic solution #2:
Pickup your Vista comp and take it to the router downstairs.
Check if the overall performance is noticeably increased.
THEN ~~~~>
  1. If it isn't & you still got the 'slows' you can safely conclude that the fault domain is NOT in your wireless net.
My guess is memory issue, but it could be other things too
  2. If the computer gets faster refer to my previous link > Microsoft Wireless Tips < )
Examples of 'fixes': Change router antenna to hi-gain
      Get a wireless repeater
      Relocate your router & etc.
