reinstalling windows and itunes
im going to reinstall windows, but how do I keep the 84 songs on my ipod? I would have to reinstall itunes, then all the songs from the library would be gone. What would happen if I charge my ipod which would still have those 84 songs? does anyone know how I can save my songs and put it somewhere else?

Backup your songs elsewhere? Move them back on afterwards?

Re: reinstalling windows and itunes
open my computer, you can open up your ipod, view hidden files and folders, there's a folder called "ipod_control", copy it and save it to your computer, open it up, open the folder called "music", open all the folders and play the songs inside them (they'll have weird names, it's ok), now you have all your songs back.
Also, wtf? Only 84 songs, that's hardly something to get so worried about.

I don't get how people get more than 1000 songs, do you listen to every single one of them? I don't, I just pick out the ones I like best and put it in the ipod

Pick the 84 you like best, upload them. Couple days later, pick another 4, upload them. Repeat for years.
When you install itunes on your formatted drive, make sure you read the menu so it doesn't reformat your ipod, make sure it doesn't "sync automatically" or it will sync to your empty library. Set it to manual then go to library>add>browse your ipod, all the songs are hidden in a bunch of folders in a hidden folder. Don't sync it, or it will sync it to songs on your ipod and delete itself. If you want to be able to sync them, copy paste the song folders to your desktop/my music, add them to library from there, sync your ipod.
