For some reason, i kinda started listening to my school band play jazz (they're pretty good) the other day, and i liked it(not that i didn't like it before;i just never really paid much attention to it). I tried searching jazz on itunes but it came up with hundreds of results and i dont know where to start looking.
Any jazz fans here? Any particular jazz artist or groups that you like the best? I just need someone to point me in the right direction.

Re: Jazz
Really depends on what you're looking for. If you are more into a big band feel, check out the classics; Ellington, Buddy Rich, Count Basie etc. There's also the more combo style (4-6 players. Here would be your more solo artists; Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker. Also a great guitarist is Pat Metheny.

Try out 2007 Grammy's Album of the Year - River: The Joni Letters by Herbie Hancock. I haven't listened to the entire album but from what I got from the first song, it's pretty good. I never really listen to jazz, and the closest I can get to is listening to Nujabes. xD
