Telemarketers / Bill Collectors

Post by Grandpa »

So, the phone rings again (always at the most inconvenient time) and it's somebody trying to sell me something :x . I got to thinking about it. They're working for some corporation, right? One of the most frustrating things when I'm dealing with corporations were their "Policy Statements". You know, "I'd like to help but it is against our policy to blah, blah, blah..."

So I wrote my own policy to use when they call me:
My Policy wrote:"It is the policy of this residence to not confirm, deny nor supply any personal information over the phone."

I tried it with one guy (telemarketer) and he just laughed. Another said, "Does that actually work?" The best way I've found is to state the policy with a totally disinterested voice, like you are one of the most bored corporate employees they have ever met.

Your thoughts?

I just got a call from the hospital i was at last year. I totally forgot to mail in my last 2 payments...OOPS! I owed them like $1,200 total at the start, and I"ve been paying on time, but totally just forgot. I owe them $300 now, but I'm only paying them $150. hehehe Thank god for insurance though, (sort of) I would have had to pay like $30k if I didn't have it...well, I wouldn't have paid, I would've just ignored it, but you know what i mean :P

i be one of those pain the a.ss marketing sellers.

for my work i have to ask people their bank acount number. they always give me a hard time bout this, but i use my uber talking skills to convince them.

10 people wouldn't give me their number, only 1 acutally didn't give it to me.

but it's sometimes funny work, some people really tell you some unbelieveble stories rofl.

Every single morning someone calls my house at 8:00 and I'm usually up at 7:00. So when it's gets close to 8:00 I pick up the phone and wait for it to ring. I answer and hear "This is not a soliciters call". I think i spelt it wrong but oh well. SO annoying. It always turns out that it was a soliciting call. I always answer though because sometimes it's also my friends or parents at work making sure I'm up.

first of all just sign up for the "do not call list" 90% of them will quit calling.

If one still does call what I do is let them talk for a while and then out of the blue say "hey your in sales, do you sell or know of anything that cleans up alot, I mean alot of blood?" 95% of the time I just hear a click after that and I have a smile on my face for the rest of the morning lol.

if a telemarketer calls i dont answer, i check my caller id and if its a number out of state that i dont know or a 800 number then i dont answer it, and if i accidently do answer then i just tell them to not call anymore, and they dont because they arent allowed to after you tell them to stop.

Greets ShadowSpell,

I wanted to sign up for that DNC list but couldn't find it (until just now).
Here is the link to the .gov site: FTC National DoNotCall <~~~~ weblink
or call 1-888-382-1222 from your ph number

We can find anti-spam (email) info on WIKI ( Can-Spam_Act_of_2003 ) but it don't look like the FTC wants to do anything about it.
