But actually, Garment or Prot is probably better on anyone at any cap. Garm + Cold gives more Phy Defense then Armor alone and Garms alone give more Mag Defense then Armor + Fire Buffs. Armor is pretty epic fail.

Armor = 742.9 + 1418.5
Garment = 627.2 + 1809
Fire = (-) + 126
Cold = 162 + (-)

Up to you to make it relative for your view.

I wear armor on my pure int s/s because of the looks. Prot is fugly, garment is meh. The problem with pure ints, is that they just dont have enough hp to tank. Wear armor and you get one shot nuked by a wizard, wear garments and you get 1 shot hit by a rogue, wear prot and you look like a tranny... see! no win situation (seriously, even a full 8d sosun prot set pure int s/s sosun nuker still got one hit crit by a rogue).

Thats partly true, take into account how fast phy damage usually is, its effects, and the possibility of crits, and they even out.

Defense choice can be trial and error, whatever works for you. If you want to get in more depth, think about it as a metagame choice. If you have the majority on your server being pure str players, using armor would probably be your best bet (and vice versa).

im wearing armour... cuz i love armour lol love the looks of it.

with armour you can tank more (a bit more) when u're up against pure str glaiver... seems every server has more pure str glaivers ...but anyhow u'll die when they crit(no matter u;re in garms or armour)

Armor + mana shield = great comsumption of mp o.o
With garment + manashield @ lv 80 is enough to tank.
U'll regret at cap 100.

Wear the fugly prot until the 90 cap which might come soon and then you can ditch the 8d prot for the 9d prot which doesn't look as fugly(for women only... 9d prot for men is the gayest thing in the game...)Or you can go 9d garms.

Tried protecter, tried armor. Both against pure STR glavies. Then I wore garms and all 3 seemed to produce pretty much the same results. I noticed maybe 100 - 300 damge more per hit with garms instead of armor. But I make up for it by being able to fight INT's haha


And crits don't kill me, wtf... maybe if they get like 3 in a row D:

the guy sis talking abt pure int S/S which means max of 2 crits(good crit) from a glaiver could kill ya(heck even 1 good crit u're dead)... for a int spear ya need max 3 crits to die(good crit)

read the topic int S/S means int sword shield hv around max 9300 hp dude ...but u're int spear hp is like around 11-12k?

read the topic int S/S means int sword shield hv around max 9300 hp dude ...but u're int spear hp is like around 11-12k?

I have like 10k hp at level 77 (lvl 70 spear passive ftw). My FoCA mate was level 80 PURE INT with 80 spear passive, and he has 10.8k HP or something. He wore protector and only used spear. He died with 1-2 crits. I use sword/shield, with some spear thrown into the mix. When I fight, the glavie usually has to get 3 crits in a row to kill me (both soul spear hits, and the ghost spear hit). Otherwise, it's just a pot fight. Oh and that was with +5 and +7 garms. I now have sun garms on Troy so only suns can kill me (assuming they crit )

depends on your build really, although armor seems to be a big no no, for any int build, unless you use it to grind, or your really rich and have 2 pimped sets, a garm and a armor for example then you can switch around depending on your oponent (friend of mine does that U_U).


I myself, use garment, but thats cuz im ice/light 80, and fire 60 so not much mag def, and if i wear protector full int nukes hurt like hell, sure str hurt but still a +5 garm set is pretty good, plus if you know when to use ironwall shield you can win even against a +7 glavier =/

im slight hybrid and i wear garms

IMO garms are the best against any chinese player since imbue does a good deal of damage and good against wiz since they only mag, the only people you lose def for is euro rouges and warriors since they just phy damage.


going from my prot +3 +4 set(with great whites) to full +5 garms(still need to work on whites) i only lost about 56 phy def and gain about 260ish mag def plus more speed and mp reduce

but you have to know the rogue is there, you're not going to throw up icewall on a trade run

on trades you just keep moving around, and usualy you have enough hunters, so even IF he takes you down in 1 hit others will kill him just as easely
if they have an army of rogues/wizzard ... your screwed
