You can leave them out in the beginning (the shouts). But I would max them eventually =]

Kd/Stab is needed from the beginning so

As a pure int you MUST max out the lionshout series =) usefull for finishing a mob you didnt 1shotted.

And kd/stab will save you against giants and in pvp it is a must, because without you are getting killed in less than 10sec
