From what i know, no you cannot get banned and i know of no-one that has ever been banned for it

Keep trying, you will get it after a couple of tries, and atm, i think people are having trouble with the clothes pk2, try the weapon one first

im having a problem: when i try to open media.pk2 in wordpad it asks to choose a program to open it with. i select wordpad but then wordpad just get stucks and doesnt open anything. im working with vista btw.

o yes and does modding euro weapons in the same way as chinese weapons? because i would like to turn my stupid 3d degree Xbow into a higher degree.

but if i turn an weapon (lets take a 1st degree chinese sword) into a better weapon (say a 8th degree chinese sword) does the new 8th degree weapon have the stats, damage and requirement of an 8th degree sword or does it only changes the skin?

Read the guides, you need to extract the text files inside the Media.pk2 (Use PK2 extractor) before editing it with WordPad. Or, if you use XVI32, you can edit directly into the pk2 files.

Look for Drew Benton's tools, they are really helpful for this.

Oh and, no, this doesn't change your stats or the weapon's, this is purely estetic, and only you can see the changes (that's why this kind of guides have survived in this "anti-cheat" forum

Ok so i followed the guide to the letter and its a nice guide dont get me wrong but... IT DOESNT WORK FOR ME!!!!

When i try to edit i go through all the steps to change Degree 1 garments into degree 8 gamrents i save the pk2 and exit XVI32 and start sro but my guy doesnt wear the d8 garms he is just in d1 garms what am i doing wrong? ohh and nothing else has changed either
...

What am i doign wrong?

i pk2 edited my garments and my sword and shield and it works fine I can see them in character select screen and I logged in fine in taklamakan it was all fine, but I scrolled back to hotan and game crashed, so I loaded it up and keeps crashing.

Ive got the original back up, but I just wondered what I could have done wrong to make the game crash, im thinking its something to do with seeing 9th deg gear on other players not just myself.. idk..I need help.

It usually means that you edited something that doesn't cooperate together. It's not affected in Takla, but in hotan it could be something else.

You cannot be banned for pk2 editing. Joymax has absolutely NO way to know who pk2 edits or not.. furthermore they cannot even prove due to gameguard being turned off... that nifty little splash you see is just a splash and nothing more

Did you try 10th deg? It happened to me when i tried to use the 10th deg garments because i didn't have the kSRO's particle.pk2

My character was fine but when i went to a city where someone had the set i had pk2 edited, then it crashed.

It usually means that the file in Media.pk2 you are looking for isn't there, which means the editing was wrong in the first place, either you typed the string wrong, or the file it's looking for isn't in Data.pk2

Ok i got a pretty big but solvable problem that anyone can help me with. When i go to extract characterdata it shows me 5 different files instead of one big characterdata.txt. These are the character data folders that show up on the extractor: characterdata_5000, characterdata_10000, characterdata_15000, characterdata_20000, and characterdata_25000. Ive tried different extractors and for some reason they want to extract characterdata separately. So if someone can either tell me how to combine these (copy pasting doesnt work i tried it, the korean writing doesnt get transfered), or someone can just send me an untampered with characterdata.txt, or even better can just edit it for me and make my pet Lord Yarkan, then i would very much appreciate it.

extract all 5. lynx is old and since 90 cap you need to extract all 5

the edit what you want from each. if you need any help please post or pm me, im willing to help.

ps dont put them all together as silkroad wont recognise it

That means, copy the Media.pk2 file from your sro folder to somewhere elso (eg. My Documents)
In case u mess up the Media file, just copy the backup to sro folder

Also: this guide dates from 2007 -.-, so it's a bit outdated
