Cleric who doesn't do their job in party

Now I know why most doesn't like cleric anymore when partying 8 man. As you know, most cleric are also a wizard. So I haven't grind for over 2 months now and finally went back to Generals to start collecting SP preparing for the 90 caps to come. As I was grinding, one my friend was pissed off that these two clerics just do one buff every 30 minutes or sometime not at all, stand there and look pretty. I mean, c'mon. Just give us the body bless which is STR and the soul bless which is INT, switch to your whatever weapon you attack with using wizard or whatever and help kill mobs. You are a euro and you do HIGH damage with these party mobs. Just because you are cleric doesnt mean you just sit there and leech. While I'm here sweating and working my fingers pressing 1234 etc.

Okay, mistake. I mean the Body bless which give physical defense and soul bless which give magic defense. WHo cares about the STR and INT.

Str and Int buffs go away when cleric switches weapon.
But not Body Blessing and Soul blessing.

Its totaly possible to have a cleric/wizz give body and soul to everyone,
cast RD and then switch to wizz.

str and int blessings can stack if they are different lvls i think so you can almost get 100+ int and str

but those clerics should at least give recovery divsion

nope... they dont stack. Bless does stack tho

Giving the whole pt the right str/int buffs ups dmg a bit = kills faster, everyons combined extra dmg surely ='s enough for 1 other person atking, healing doesn't matter much in the pt, as long they give the def and and stat buffs I think they are fine >.>.

And bless every now and then when needed, though who needs it on generals? Unless your lower lvls, but its packed with lvl 80s anyway so you aren't gonna get mobbed lol >.>, most servers anyway.

sometimes, the clerics might not be wizzards, they might be bards, warriors, they might also be lower level than your average gen party and therefore only buff because they would die a lot otherwise.

Int buffs increases the wizards dmg by at least 1-2k..
STR buff on a wiz can save his ass many times.
besides, i would kick the clerics u are talking about
they should do healing constantly, like healing orbit if they have once in 16 seconds, or healing favor, and not just sit there, rebuff once in 30 minutes and than go back to watch tv or something.

+str/+int giving u 30+ attribute points is a big deal, the def not so much.

to topic starter: i dont know if you had the nightmare of being a cleric yet.
today i was lvling my warlock/cleric (it was only 17), and i found a nice party, and i joined it. after joing it was doin a full time cleric job. you have to heal: stupid warriors who go out of range, mage who think they can tank, pullers who pull more than 3 party mob at a time, and other stupid stupid g@y party members. and plus u are telling me to switch to my warlock rod and start nuking? no thank you.

guess I agree with all the replys, you need to find better clerics to party with.. I am very busy with my cleric.. I have no time to sit back.. no time to even keep up with guild/union chat. Clerics are not for doing damage we are to keep party alive and Buffed!!

Yeah, unless some parties actually start using the absolute damage moves they are given instead of spamming "METEOR! DAREDEVIL! WHY AREN'T THEY DYING!??" Since it's probably not going to happen this decade though, that works

for christ sake , clerics are supposed to be support class, with buffs and healing, though they have over healing spells, but yeah ....

When I play in a good party with my cleric I don't even time to stand still, after buffing people it's constantly healing. Like one guy said people think they can just run off making a cleric go back and forth between groups of the party. Only when you cast bless you have a more calm period for like 45 sec and then it's heal heal heal again.

Give str guys str buffs en int guys int buffs to increase dmg...or the other way around to increase there hp (tanking ability) and mp (less mp pot usage)

I agree with the others...A cleric is a cleric, they either buff and heal, or they attack (if they have a sub)...Not both

Doesnt str buffs give phy def and more hp -> more tanking
Same for int buffs but mag def and more mp -> more mag mob tanking and dmg dealing

(Both increase balance)

And doesnt the phy and mag def buff add defense so you can tank more, so you can use AoE attacks better because you can tank a few more =]

as a relatively new cleric here are some of my experiences from party grinding:

give at least 1 buff to each party member, lots of people complain when they don't get buffed by the cleric so in a 8 man party that means 1 buff each. I try to give buffs out to enhance your characters role - int for int players and str for str players.

use bless wisely. bless is a great skill that can pull the party out of trouble and is best used when needed. it is a waste using it when the party is going fine. Use bless when a large amount of party mobs swarm your party, the long cooldown means that if you over use bless then you may be stuck in a situation where you absolutely need bless to keep the party alive but are left having to wait up to 3 or 4 minutes for it to cooldown.

stay on the ball. At any moment a couple of stray mobs could attack you or another int player and if you haven't been keeping everyone healed properly then players may start to die. A dead player takes longer to res then to heal and those precious seconds wasted could result in the death of another player. Keep the party constantly healed up to 100%hp to prevent any problems like that from happening.

thats my experience as a pure cleric from some very enjoyable party experiences.

now it's just a matter of finding some good parties to play with at my level as they are few and far between.

i know what u feel it pissed me off too, iam euro rogue and i need cleric to heal me but yeah they just give buffs and stand and do nothing and let me die then just ress, i hate stupid cleric who doesn't do they job so much they have to heal!!! heal!

As a cleric myself, I cringe when I see people doing a bad job. I think I'm known in Vent for having a go at people about their poor clericing... =x

Better combo:
get a warlock/cleric instead of main cleric if you dont need the heals.
Why?
sub cleric has the phy/mag defenses and casts the rec div (for better survival).
Switches in warlock and starts debuffing generals which raises wizard's damage not for 1-2k (STR/INT buffs), but 10k minimum. (depends on player's lvl)
Killing 2 times faster is better IMO.

its not only clerics especially at lower levels, once you join a share party you know there will be 2 or more players who decide to simply sit down and watch rest do their job.
its even worse when you are a cleric and rest of your party does not do their job, you heal and they decide not to attack the mobs that go agro on you, always great in a trade run when you heal them but they decide to go after the player thief instead of the npc spawns

I have lv.51 Wizard / Cleric ... and I mostly play in cleric in PvE ... coz I get acepted in parties that are 10 levels above me ... and its cool but I cant just sit there ... they die too ... I cast healing cycle like all the time ... and buff them ...
