I'd love the smudging if you played with the hues and colours; but I don't feel that textured smudging goes well with a cartoony character like that.

Next time you can try to play around with a light source. Ligting is really important in tags <3 this one has good smudging and nice effect on the background and the colors are alright <3 Keep it up.

I think it looks great just that the flow might be a little to forced if you know what I mean, try adding a lightsource and maybe blur the backround in some places.
