anyone heard of this remake "Bully: Scholarship Edition". Damn teachers wanna ban this game because it encourages violence. BAH they're crazy, only causes violence if you let your kid play it. I love this game and wanna get for 360 soon. think those teachers should be doing this? are they going a little over the edge?

while i dont rly agree with banning the game, i do have to say that game developers need to realize not everything in real life can be (or should be) turned into a game...

Not really. It is just the new "bandwagon." They will be over it and move on to a new "cause" next week.

ESRB ftw. IMO its the parents fault. Watch what your kids buy, and control it. Don't blame the developers.

I do believe that it can and probably will have an effect on young adolescent minds. I've played Call of Duty and my little 8 year old brother has watched, and he thinks everything he holds is a gun now. I think if the appropriate age group plays it, it's fine. But I do see where they (the teachers) are coming from, games can easily influence a childs behavior, permitting them to mimic what they see. I do think parents should be parents and control what their kids are playing. A ban on the game is unnecessary.

Rockstar won't be stopped by some idiot teachers. They've dealt with crap like this ever since the original GTA was released, but they're still churning out great games. It's basically a trend now to get on Rockstar's ass every time they release something mildly offensive. Nevermind any violent movies or games made by other people.

If these fools want to be taken seriously they'll go after all the other media out there that "promotes" similar themes.

Before you go slamming "idiot teachers" my wife is a teacher and let's see how many acts of violence have been committed in school because some "idiot kid" doesn't like the mark he got on his test so he decides to shoot up the school? Quite a few, there were 5 in one week in the states two weeks ago. The college I work at went into lockdown for 8 hrs because a gun was spotted on campus (turned out to be nothing). So before you call them idiot teachers remember that they are working in an environment where their ability to discipline kids has been handicapped because god forbid little Johnny gets his feelings hurt. My wife in her class has had a chair thrown at her, had another kid threaten to jump out of the 3rd floor window, had a knife pulled on her in the yard (these kids are grade 6-8 btw) and been called more names than I can think of and all she's trying to do is teach kids how to learn. She's not a bitch, she organizes field trips all the time, she coaches 6 different sports in her spare time, she organizes monthly pizza days at the school, gets large companies like home depot to donate time and supplies to fix up the school because our gov't won't. Hell, she can't even fail kids anymore or dock them marks if an assignment is late because it might hurt their confidence. Are you kidding me? How does that prepare you for the real world? I can tell you my boss isn't going let me slide if I don't finish my program scripts for work. I just don't like it when I see people bash teachers. It's all well and good to think that they have it easy with summers off and done work at 3:30, when in reality, my wife is at school usually until 6, and then does prep work, marking and all that the for a couple hours a night at home, over the summer she has to continue taking courses to keep certain certifications up and she is even required to pay for a lot of supplies herself, like paper for the photocopier because there is no budget. Rant mode off.

I'm also a parent and I agree with you whole heartedly that it's the parents responsibility to decide what is appropriate for their kids to see or play with and the fact that it's a game is complete BS. I remember playing with toy guns long before FPS were popular. There is more violence on the news than anywhere else. I played Dungeon's and Dragons as a kid, and remember being told it was going to make me lose my grasp on reality. Does playing SRO make any of you want to go pick up a sword and start hacking people apart? Didn't think so. This is just another example of our politically correct world gone nuts. Kids today are way more savvy and intelligent than adults give them credit for but what I find is that there is a lack of respect and adults think by legislating this stuff and controlling what is seen and heard they will get that respect back. The only way to get respect is for parents to teach it to their kids. And you can be sure I'm doing that with my two kids, respect yourself and respect others.

I don't call them idiots because they're teachers. I call them idiots because of the way they're handling the issue, attacking Rockstar specifically when they of course aren't the only source of "violent" media. Like I said if they want to be taken seriously, and in turn not be idiots, they need to go after more than just the scapegoat.
