Silkroad Launcher won't load
For some weird reason, my silkroad launcher isn't loading, it just pops up the thing for a split second, then disappears
and it's worked before by the way

Re: Silkroad Launcher won't load
It's been happening for a while, and I don't want to system restore to that long ago, incase there's stuff I missed
I mean, when the launcher doesn't load, it really doesn't load, nothing comes up (well, the thing comes up for about a tenth of a second then disappears
), wait I guess that means the screen with the start button

Usually, when a program acts unexpectedly, it means something changed. Any patches applied to your system? Of course SRO isn't that great coding-wise...
Rebooted already, I'm assuming.

Re: Silkroad Launcher won't load
if you re-download and reinstall, make sure you save your Screenshots folder
Then, uninstall SRO first, reinstall.

Data execution prevention...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875352
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a set of hardware and software technologies that perform additional checks on memory to help prevent malicious code from running on a system. In Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, DEP is enforced by hardware and by software.
The primary benefit of DEP is to help prevent code execution from data pages. Typically, code is not executed from the default heap and the stack. Hardware-enforced DEP detects code that is running from these locations and raises an exception when execution occurs. Software-enforced DEP can help prevent malicious code from taking advantage of exception-handling mechanisms in Windows.

Re: Silkroad Launcher won't load
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on that, I've had severe back pain over the weekend.
How to disable DEP:
- Click Start, then Control Panel
- Select System
- Click the Advanced tab
- In the Performance area, select Settings
- Click the Data Execution Prevention tab in the dialog box that opens
- Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select
- Click Add.
- The "open" dialog box will open. Browse to the SRO_Client.exe
- highlight and click Open
- Click Apply
- Click Ok
- Reboot
You might have to do this again for the launcher. I don't have SRO on my work pc so I can't check.
This should keep your computer protected from anything else while still allowing SRO to run.
