Car exhaust.

Post by Avalanche »

A topic for the drivers of this forum.

I'm looking for an exhaust for my car (07' mustang v6), after looking at the prices and sounds of the car, I think I have came to a conclusion.

That is how it sounds, it is a GT Take off part.

What you guys think, sound good?

It has a deep rumble :[

Ricers have that high pitched death sound with gigantic fart canons as an exhaust..

It doesn't sound too bad. I say stick with it, and purchase additional upgrades to the engine to enhance the sound (and your horsepower). Headers would obviously be the next upgrade of choice to increase HP and sound quality. From there, MSD Ignition system, intake, etc. Just because it's a v6, doesn't mean it can't sound mean :)

My red 89 Probe GT was only a 2.2 4 cyl Turbo, but with all the upgrades on the engine, it sounded better than any of these new STOCK v8 mustangs.

Already sounding better. Honestly, I think that you would be better off by just going with a Flowmaster Exhaust, maybe 40 series? I can't remember if it was 40 or 30, but I bought my older brother some for his 1972 Mustang and the 40 sounded great. Of course his was a v8 with dual exhaust.

Speaking of which, another upgrade you should consider is dual exhaust. A single pipe is okay for 4 cylinders, but anytime you have more than one exhaust manifold (headers) on a 6 or 8 cylinder engine, it really creates a bottleneck and you lose a lot of HP and of course theres the sound issue. It's pricey, but you should look into it. You'll probably need to get a GT rear bumper though for the extra exhaust tip slot.

Another plus to this, is people will see your car on the street and think it's a GT because of your exhaust :D

A catback exhaust will cost 350 for a cheap one, and the install will cost more, then I have to get my bumper cut or replaced to fit the dual ones. That will cost like near $1000.

This exhaust only costs like 30 bucks because they took it off a GT

True. I tend to forget that price can be an issue :o

All of my exhaust work is done free, except the price of the muffler itself. <3

In the near future I am probably going to get a Y pipe, for the look and mean sound.
