Yeah, you were just allowed to pay whatever you thought it was worth. If you didn't want to pay for it, it was free

yeah radiohead did it first, Trent Reznor, had already released an album, so he released an album with Saul Williams the same way.

Indeed, I paid the equivalent of $10 US for their new record. It's the new plan. The recording industry is shit, and this will help bring down greedy, heartless record companies that screw bands over.

rofl I remember reznor said something about his album being sold for 30 buck cause company knew he had fan who would buy it, then he said at his show to steal his album instead of buying it XD
humm im kinda disapointed, all song are instrumental, and sound like his old instrumental stuff :S nothing really new

Not everything, could be cheaper yes, but not free...
The people who crack the programs and rip shit get paied so sometimes what theyre releasing isnt always free...
but of course theyre content is always stolen and given for free for the cheap public..
poor coder

Re: Nine inch nails new album
The thing is, these bands can more or less afford to release their albums for as little or as much as they want. As all musicians know, the money from any kind of band normally doesn't come from CD sales. They come from tours. It varies from label to label, but out of all the CDs you sell, the artists themselves only receive a tiny fraction of how much the CD costs.
Tours are where all the money's at.
