Same thing happened to me at yarkan awhile back, had my warlock rod in my inven while I healed. Luckily I had a friend pick it up for me before anyone else realized. Something similar happened to a friend today however, somehow lost a 72+7 xbow while dcing at takla shakrams.
ya they made it so you can't drop equipted gear but with a euro you almost have to have multiple weapons, and a rogue expessially alone has to carry 2, plus for what ever sub you have, they need a few extra inventory slots for alt weapon set and instead of having the weapons icon on skill bars you just have a change next weapon set action.

i duno why they did that make no sense its like each time you go out to grind if you die you'll prob lose a wep.. and with the 15sec delay its like 100% you gona die if you get a couple of mobs on you if your not playing on party.
ya but a rogue should have 2 weapons as it is, unless they really meant it to be either a daggers rogue or xbow rogue. And alot of warriors have 2 weapons, a weapon set attachment part of inventory would nice, i mean i lost me fancy sheild to a gold bot, it was only plus 3 but it was a good br, oh well not as bad as your staff that would leave me seriously annoyed. With my new rogue i'm afraid to to plus my daggers and bow cause i just know i'll drop one and the one either jerk or can't speak english guy will get my weapon in a party. Though i dont' die that much i just can see it happening

A friend of mine was killing bots yesterday, by using a lightning npc thief. Many of the dead bots dropped sets of pots. We got a nice amount of free MP pots If u die, u might loose something. Its totaly random

maybe get your facts right before you post, yes euros were designed for 2 masteries and so were chinese
anytime you die you have a small chance of dropping items in your inventory, I have seen many times where people have dropped GDF, thief/hunter/trader suits and anything in their inventory, yeah the chance of it happening is small but it can happen.
I was in a party with some idiots at mujigi (or whatever they are called^^). I switched from warlock rod/shield to my harp and buffed everyone, when i got the aggro and a mob killed me... Dropped my +4 BR 17 shield and one of those idiots picked it up. Had to buy it back -_-
Its rare but it happens, i remember i used to drop my 1mil job suits all the time, i remember once when a hunter serked me and it was like when he nuked me it blew my suit right off! lol

Yeh, I always dropped my blue cape.. It was the only thing in my inventory(didnt wear it), and I dropped it almost every dead.

it was funny how those always seemed to drop, i remember going out thiefing and coming back and looking in my rabbit and once I had 2 of them in there,
Wow I can't believe no-one posted why this happened (that I can see...)
This happened because the mobs you were fighting were a higher level than you. You can drop pretty much anything in your Inventory if lets say, you're level 76 fighting lord yarkan and friends who are 80
Sorry to hear that, that why whenever I grind mobs higher than me I just bring my xbow and cleric rod, keep the shield and daggers in storage / pet.
BTW - I'm positive this happens on orange and red mobs.. I'm not sure about green or blue, but I doubt it.
I keep a shitty cler rod and when i grind i keep items i dont need in storage or my pet. When im high enough to use my 72+5 its staying in storage while im in takla lol XD
