quick Grey Wolf questions

been looking through the forum and this didn't seem to be answered...

I've seen people's pets picking up items and whatnot by themselves. Can Grey Wolves do the same? or only the silk-bought pets? And if my eyes aren't deceiving me and pets CAN in fact pick up items for u - how do u train them to do so? Because that's the main reason I have one now, b/c i HATE picking up items (so mundane).

Also, a dumb question I should know already - how do I give my Grey Wolf a new name?

If there are any great pet guides that can answer any other questions I might have, can any1 please link to those. Thanks.

I think I found out my answer
No, they can't collect items, only Inventory Pets can do that and they only last 1 month (but never die) and you have to pay for them through silk

Is that correct?

By the by, how can you safely purchase silk anyways? It seems like a dangerous practice with identity theft out there and all.

Yup, ability pets are the only thing that can pick up items for you, and they cost silk (I believe 980 silk or $9.80 the first time and 480 silk $4.80 every time after that).

Your safest bet of buying silk is probably through paypal, but make sure you're using your own money or someone in your family's money that you can trust (parent etc.).

Hate to be a pain but wanted to know if anyone can elaborate or clarify this for me:

I have heard a rumour (word of mouth mind you) that hackers have been able to go directly through joymax and hack peoples accounts? Is this true?

And if so is this because of buying silk through their website? Just would like it clarified please, thanks.

It was because of a hole in the original forum that the official website ran, NOT because of silk

i'm assuming most of the concern about paying through paypal is b/c most players here (i'm generalizing, of course) are teenagers or at least not living on their own with individual credit card accounts what have you.
I'm old enough to have my own credit card, but since I have heard a lot of danger associated with purchasing silk through these forums, on silkroad.net and of course the GMs online, I just want to make sure that the paypal for SRO is in fact secure. I probably won't do it anyways, but if I ever do get the compulsion, I'm just wondering how bad it is.

I'm realizing this is a topic for another thread though, so if someone can link me to a thread of this topic that'd be great.

Also, any simple answer to one of my original question - how to change pet names. I'll probably figure it out on my own, but just wanted to know if anyone could toss the info my way. Thanks.

you can choose a name for your pet (both attacking and ability). just go to the stat screen of your pet and click on the change name icon. also you CANNOT change it once you have chosen a name. so take time and choose a good name.

To get to the stat screen of your pet press insert, or go to the tab at the bottom right that says information and click on that. There will be a big button that says Create Name and after clicing that a message box will pop up. Be warned though, you can only name your pet once, after that it sticks like that forever!
