Proxy check hack

I am always looking for useful forum hacks for my vBulletin forum and came across one that checks for blacklisted proxies at registration. There are several sites that run lists of known proxy IPs and this hack runs a quick check for them, including programs like HideIP, Proxify and Anonymizer. Usually, for every old vB hack there is a phpBB hack as well.

Would save you a lot of time in the banning department.

so basically, that tool would automatically exclude all members that
run a proxy through one of the blacklisted sites?

Yeah. They get an error message and a link to contact the administration if they feel they got the message as a mistake.

It puts the blocked new members into a user group of your choice, call it "Users Awaiting Moderation" and they could be moved from there if the error IS a mistake. Users awaiting moderation would have no posting rights. See?

Ill look thorugh some phpBB sites and see if I can dig up a similar hack for SRF....

not good i use a proxy to get on here from school and if that gets blocked i wont be able to post here at all anymore
