Alright, I'll give you an example of a game that suffered from gold bots, but survived the ban of it.

Pred wrote:Remember this.

Company goal = to make money.
Jagex's goal is to make money, they actually lost a lot of money banning all Memberbots(consider it like premium).

Joymax makes money. Gold farmers make money.

You the player, do you spend money?

If you don't spend money, no one can make money = no more Silkroad. You still spend money on silk, Suits,Skinchange, astrals, immortals, tons of other things you can spend silk on.

I hope you understand.

After 911 how long did that take? 4-5 years? Were still in a recession man.

Do you live in America?

Silkroad will be dead before the economy will adapt.

Suns will not drop to 300 million until the next item comes out and so on. People paid bilions for their items. I happen to have one? Unless there is a reason to sell it, you'll never get a hold of one.

That's the only thing that can save you / this game right now.

are you trying to compare 9/11 to banning gold bots?..............

and dont forget a virtual economy is not nearly as complex as a real one it changes much more quickly...
every time we get an update the prices of just about everything changes drastically
if they did ban gold bots and suns started to go for 300m i have a feeling you would take what you could get (we both know its never gonna get that low though...)

The economy would die.

Players won't actually play to find their weapons.

Players quit the game.

Silkroad will die.

horay?

Well, I don't think it would be like that. The change would be: Instead of people running around with +9, +7 and sosun -> +5 and +4 would be considered good AND everyone could get hold of or make them. I've never bought gold and "survived" perfectly well in the extreme economy that is right now - but i'm far from "strong".

I don't see how an economy could "die". I think you're totally wrong, even if you've been a GM. But everyone has got their own thoughts. I just don't think the things you are pointing out there are true.

You say "No gold bots = no gold sales = no gold for players." - What do you mean here? The game was designed to not include goldbots, so why would it be no gold for the players?

Look back at the 60 cap, there were no goldbots back then. Did the economy die? No. Many of the oldskool players are longing back to that time cause it was so balanced and so much fun.

you dont understand...if there were no more +7 or +9 or sosuns...+4 and +5 would cost just as much as a +9 now b/c it would be so powerful...its all based on a balance

How would no gold bots lead to no full sun set people? There aren't many gold bots at 8th degree to get sun drops, and I know people who have gotten sun sets and/or wep without buying any gold at all :O . All banning goldbots would do is make it easier for them lol.

there is a possibility that there will still be people with full sun sets but it would be more fair
because right now there are maybe 20 people per s server that went out and bought billions of gold and bought a sun set at a price higher than anybody (that doesnt buy gold) can afford
if we got rid of gold buying then those 20 people wouldnt exist or there would be something like 200-500 people with a lot of gold and the sun gear would be more spread out

You guys really want to compare in-game economy to real life economy?

Look where you live. I don't know where you live but I live in the USA.

USA's economy sucks, like I said we are going through a recession.

Gold farmers are based out of China. They can live off 500 dollars a month USD.

I can't live with anything less than 3,000 USD per month.

Silkroad is based in Korea. Korea won exchange rate fluctuates everyday and is actually going up in value where the US dollar is going less.

The cost to maintain the servers in Korea cost XXXX dollars per month times 30 shards.

Korea has might have about 180 employees. Remember Joymax is a development and publishing company and has two offices around the world.

International Silkroad generates 80% of the revenue for Joymax.

Do you really think a friggin 20 dollar avatar item will be enough to sustain the cost of running the company?

You are the customer. Selfish customer. You only think about how you can benefit from the game when in fact it's a business aspect to benefit from the customer. You play Silkroad. You complain. You threaten to quit. It's a drug to you and you're an addict. Do yourself a favor and un-install the game from your computer. Joymax couldn't give a damn about legits when 80% of the population are bots. Botters who pay to abuse the game. It's the players who bot, not Joymax. You want to be mad? Be mad at the players.

Then they have gold bots themselves lol...

If not, please acknowledge me about how to earn enough gold for a full sun set lol

Totally Agree ....

I highly doubt that Joymax has their own gold selling company. It wouldn't make sense. Why would they run a gold selling company that fills the server with bots and pisses off all of the rest of the players, rather than simply selling gold in their item mall. There would be far less server traffic that way, and more people could log on and be happy playing. They'd still get their revenues from gold sales.

This would mean less premium sales, but item mall gold would be more accessible to more people than gold from the gold bots. Some players might want to buy gold, but don't want to deal with a 3rd party company when they can just hit F10 to get in the item mall, click click BOOM 1 billion gold! Plus, Joymax would get ALL of the cash for those sales, not just a cut from the gold company. (even if Joymax owned the gold company, some of the money would have to go to support that company, and not be used to support SRO or Darkeden, etc...)

However, I hope they never sell gold in the item mall. I'm just saying it doesn't make sense, from a business standpoint, profit-wise, for Joymax to have a gold company instead of item mall gold.

Thank you pred! However I guarentee the 12 year old kids who are reading this will completely ignore what you're saying and continue to argue on the same points over and over again. They're never going to ban gold botters because of all the revenue they make, and I love your point about the end with the players. Chances are JM has goldbotters too, but to say that 100% of all the goldbotters is owned by JM is crazy.

Agree with you 100% pred. There are not enough left in game that actually play it. If they blocked all the bots in 1 pass not only would they loose their paypal merchant status from mass chargeback. But the 20 people left on each server would have a hard time really playing the game. It would be like gutting the whole economy. Maybe you could rebuild but I doubt many would be interested.

Play the market, buy low and sell high. You'll get one eventually, I played for about 1/2 a month - 1 month to get quite a bit of money (60 mill :D) legit on my lvl 46 and 24... Just play the market smart and you can get your SoSun gear =]... eventually. GL

I just don’t get why JM would allow others to profit so wildly off of them. Why don’t they work some kind of item mall gold item. And get rid of botters. Cut out the middle man. Its not like CCF isnt rampant on alc items n stuff. Make a limited amount of sales per month or make gold drop increase scroll(s). They could elminate the high prem. cost and make money from gold. As far as im aware, Perfect World does it. Selling mall credits for in game gold, so I buy store credits and sell them. I know ccf is an issue, but its not going to become any less of an issue. I don’t know, im sure my idea is stupid and would just as soon destroy the game, but at least people would be able to play it.

btw, nice seeing you around.

Alright so I know the Joymax made SRO for th cash...and I'm awear the make cash buy selling silk which gold botters buy. and that they have to pay for more servers....so what if they get rid of 50% of the servers and ban all the bots?...wouldn't they save money buy cutting down on servers and people would still have to buy premuims probably

Cant ban the bot coz like Fred said in 1 of his post i think. Alot bot buying silk, so if ban em bot mean losing $ to JM they wont do it. How many bot did JM ban since last major bot ban you see? None :banghead:

You actually think that the money they save from cutting 1/2 the servers and "some more" people buying premium > the money they currently make with so many botters (and other people) buying silk? Yeah right dude, it's a company, seriously. People don't understand that they're NOT going to get JM to close the bots even if 38947189257489124789127489214791273489712489129 forums were made bitching at them...
