Chain Sword Attack Series
Chain Sword Attack Series
Im in the process of making a dual (bicheon/heuskal) int hybrid. I just want to know if I should add the chain sword atk series to my build? and is lion shout any good?
It depends on how hybrid you're going to be. At my balance, chain sword outdamages nukes depending on crits, so I keep it for giants and champions. (Fire nuke, light nuke, chain combo, repeat) However, it might not for you.
Also, I've found that sword throws are better than shout for a hybrid. By the time you get to the last book for each, devil cut far outdamages shout, with a chance for a crit or two, and petal sword can hit up to 3 enemies in a 30m circle. Not to mention there's less MP cost so you can stay out considerably longer.

I did a quick search in the forum about chains; what's with the general dislike for chains? It looks cool, does good damage, and doesn't cost a lot of sp to obtain that skill. At lvl29, you could get both the 4 hit and 5 hit chain (billow & blood) at the same time. Only 135 sp each. You also don't have to lvl up the chains to get the higher lvl chains at the 4th and 5th books (accension & heaven). This is good for pure int 'cause lvl-ing up weapon skills doesn't help much with damage anyways. For pvp, Nukes are hi damage, but imagined getting blocked by some dude with a hi br shield; you don't want to be an one trick only nuker; same issue with KD. If you get blocked, what are you going to do next? The 4 and 5 hit chains will for sure get you some damage while your nukes cool off. Of course, at much higher lvl this wouldn't be an issue since you have a few nukes at your disposal as well as additional KDs move.
As for lion shout vs. the blade force move, it's all about cost/benefit, the blade force is a mp bargin at 30 somethin' mp, not to mention the shout damages less; again, like someone else said, keep it at the 1st lvl, since pure int is all about the imbue power.

I'm assuming you're pure int. A lion shout will do the same damage as blade force more or less, and lion shout is faster. Even if you're a hybrid, lion shout(s)/blade force should be used as a finishing move...so a faster attack will give you a higher chance of not taking more damage if you know what i mean.
Chains are pretty, but not necessary for a pure int. For grinding, use flame-wave burning followed by ghost spear or lion shout. For pvp, use your knockdowns, stuns, knockbacks, stabs...etc...

One day...
Monkey: You can't plan a character to lvl 30 unless you're making a goldbot ;p
Chains are generally looked down upon because while they do a ton of damage, that damage is spread out pretty evenly over 5-6 seconds, plus cooldown/warmup. Assuming you can chain for the dmg of a nuke (not out of the question) that's a melee nuke that takes longer to pull off and does less dmg/second than a normal nuke. Even if you get blocked, 3/5 nuke isn't much better than 0 nuke if your opponent is near your level and knows how to set the autopot.
Muyo: It's about 65/70 right now, but that's going to change drastically in the next few levels as I move towards 80/85.
