China Airline Vs. Cathy Pacific? (Airline)
Ok so Im traveling to Vietnam in 2 weeks to use my paid 4 weeks vaccation time. I want to know what airline I should use.
I've been using China airline ever since I was a little kid, I really dislike the service and the food, but its always/most of the time on schedule - no delays. Price is 1,300.oo bucks, and its almost a never wait wait situation for the flight, as soon as you get to the gate the flight is ready to go, so you don't have to wait for hours.
(Stops by Taipei, Taiwan)
Or
I can try to use Cathy Pacific for the first time, because I want to stop by Hong Kong to see how it's over there. Can anyone give me how the service is and what's the % of delay flights or waiting time? Is the food good? The price is 1,400.oo bucks.

If you have the extra $100 dollars to spare go for something new. Why not?

My dad went with Cathay a couple years ago when he visited Hong Kong, didn't hear any complaints. In March he visited Vietnam (stopping in Tokyo) with Quantas and really liked it.
Every time I go visit family in Australia I fly Quantas as well, and it's great. The only thing is that you have to plan your flights well when not flying on domestic airlines.

Money isn't an issue for me, but what's important to me is how the service and food is.
@Dom, Quanta-wut? My choice were either China Airline, Cathy Pacific, or Eva airline. Eh, you should ask your dad how the female flight attendence look =) thats one of the reason I wanna go on cathy pacific haha.
I remember back in January I went to vietnam Via china airline, I ask for a cup of noodle, I had to wait like 30mins for it lol.
Btw, my planning schedule was
Phx - LAX - (Hong Kong, Taipei-Taiwan, or where the hell Eva stops in Asia) - Vietnam HoChiMinh City duma

Re: China Airline Vs. Cathy Pacific? (Airline)
I flew Cathay from Hong Kong to Rome. Didn't like it too much. No way you could possibly fly Singapore Airlines, they're good. You may have to stop-over at Singapore though. I preferably usually fly Qantas because it's Australian, however recently they've been having dramas, the only drama I had with them was we had no personal TV's on our 10 hour flight from Hawaii.
I'd pick Cathay over China. Hardest thing though, if you don't know Chinese/Vietnamese or something they're extremely hard to understand in English.
Reasonable service, reasonable food.

Re: China Airline Vs. Cathy Pacific? (Airline)
O, now that i read better here let me give u my Opinion:
Eva Air. Its a great airline, its not expensive, the food and service is good, i wouldn't call it amazing, but its what you need. Nothing to bad, nothing over the top You would enjoy your flight.
China Air. Well, i only flew it when i was really young and i went to Beijing. So i cant tell you much cuz TBH i dont remember.
Cathay. I use it when i hit up Hong Kong some times, and ive always liked it. It can be an "Elite" carrier. However, it's still quite caring for those who dont want to get all the specialties that it offers. I would say however, that a part of your experience lies in the Flight Attendants that you get, i've had amazing ones, which were 24/7 (well 14 hours) caring, always truly looking after passengers. The others, well those were just a nightmare, they took nearly the enitre course of the flight from here to Singapore (A good hour and something) to fetch me a glass of water that i asked for SINCE i got ON the plane. And shit, when the guy brought it to me he pretty much was pissed at me, cuz i had reminded him a couple times.
If you wana have just a good flight and the difference isnt that bad, plus you get to experience something new first hand. Then go ahead and Fly Cathay. I mean, now they have a lot of these Self Service stations where they just leave the drinks out for you to get urself, and it's nice cuz you walk around, and it doesn't feel soooo long the flight. (I spend more time out of my seat than in it). O also, i don't know about you, but i know that a lot of Foreigners dont like Asian carriers because of their Seats, they design them for the Asians, and as a Westerner i find them small and annoying sometimes..
At least you get to Stop in Hong Kong, and trust me (dude/dudette?) if you have a nice stopover in HK airport, at least 3 hours or something. You will love it, the HK airport is amazing, it really does rival the one in Singapore, there is so much to do and So Much to buy. So its really a cool experience.
But yeah, in the end it comes down to you

You crazy? I so much rather just sit in my seat and chill. Walking around is so annoying, especially because the aisles are so small and hard to walk down, and people have their pillows hanging off the side and crap.
I found that too that the seats were small and extremely cramped. When I spilt orange juice on myself, I pretty much had to lapp it up.

Hmm Cathay Pacific sounds pretty good, my aunt said the air port in HK is amazing so thats one of the many reason why I wanted to try it. Again Eva sounds good, coming from Key-J's point of view.
On the airplane, iono I just try to sleep my way through. The smell of the food on China Airline isn't pleasing. But yeah ever since I was a kid, I can remember all the seats and row are so close together, takes alot of skills to maneuver down the row to the rest room.
Guess I'll ask my travel agent to see the price of Cathay Pacific then. Thanks guys, anymore personal experience would be helpful.

oh, the smell on US Airlines is disgusting.
Hong Kong airport is, omg, so big. Trains to get from terminal to terminal. Loved the seedy smoking rooms though, and the FREE Wifi (Others claim to be free, but never are). Hard to find a nice Cafe to eat at though. Probably because we had to walk so far to get anywhere, so we pretty much got to our gate and slept.
