Help finding RAM
Ok so I want to upgrade my HP Compaq Presario FS7600 with another 1 or 2GB of ram. I'm having trouble finding it for sale online. Is there any good websites anyone knows of?

Newegg.com
Ebay.com
Amazon.com
TigerDirect.com
If it's old RAM and they don't make it anymore best bet would be ebay, that's where i got my socket939 processor.

Re: Help finding RAM
if your from the states Newegg is the best, tigerdirect though usually has lower prices. Its your choice, btw how much RAM do you have currently and are you sure your motherboard can handle it. i only ask because my friend bought RAM off newegg and found out his computer could not handle it.

Re: Help finding RAM
Whats your OS? 4Gb only works with XP 64 bit edition and Vista. the most XP can use it 3.4Gb i think.

Re: Help finding RAM
im running XP so 3.4? alright so all i need is a 2GB stick then....wonder if my board can detect that amount in 1 drive
EDIT my full computer is a HP Compaq Presario FS7600 SR1811NX
I found some ram but HP only sells 1 GB so i would need 3 more 1GB sticks. This price is high because I payed $75 on kingston.com before.

Re: Help finding RAM
idk, you could utilize 4gb maybe but it also depends on your mother board too so make sure everything is compatible too first.

Re: Help finding RAM
Do you know what kind of RAM your motherboard can hold? You need to know how many pins your RAM slots have.
If you don't know, this website should tell you.

Also, from what I know and have researched, Windows XP can use 4GB of RAM and actually recognize about 3.5GB.

Re: Help finding RAM
You also have to make sure that the RAM you have in your PC is of the same speed as the RAM you are going to buy. It's not necessary but I strongly recommend it. Look for values like PC6400/800mHZ and make sure they correspond.

I would even suggest ditching the RAM you already have and going dual channel. I'm not sure how big of a difference it makes from regular RAM, but I know mine is really fast.

Thanks for adding that

Sure thing Makenshi.
I actually just built my PC so I've been reading a lot about this stuff. It's really interesting too.

Re: Help finding RAM
Intel Q6600 g0 @ 3Ghz (I'm overclocking atm, and I hit 3.3Ghz before but didn't take the time to get it 100% stable so I set it back to 3Ghz)
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L motherboard
Thermaltake M9 Case
PALiT 9600GT SONIC 512MB 700Mhz video card
CORSAIR 650TX 650W power supply unit
OCZ Reaper 4GB (2x2GB) PC2 6400 Dual Channel RAM
LITE-ON 20X DVD/CD burner
Tuniq Tower 120 Heatsink
Artic Silver 5 thermal past
Cost aprox= $1250

I bought most of the stuff from Newegg. They're amazing!
I play CoD4 maxed out at 125 fps. I play Crysis too, it runs really well.
I would think SRO would run perfectly but I still lag.
I click on a mob to attack or a spot to run and I jump to wherever I want to go. When zerking and running I jump all over the place. Is that my internet connection do ya think?

Re: Help finding RAM
It has to be the connection i think... Since Crysis and CoD4 run well on it... But imho SRO isn't coded very well.

That's got to be it. On top of bad coding on SRO's behalf, my ISP sucks. :S I have Knowlodgy or w/e and we already have connection issues every now and then...
