It's slightly off by what you requested, but the series "Quantum Leap" is similiar. He goes around through time and solves "problems" in order to make a "leap" or jump. He hopes that after solving the problem of the past, that his next "leap" will be the next one home. The guy, Sam, leaping around takes on the character's life and attempts to fix whatever problem needs fixing. Just google it for more information . - Peace.

H.G. Wells would have died again if he'd seen that thing. It has been one of the worst adaptations of a book that i have seen.

I love the Time Machine book and they just removed and added the wrong stuff for the big screen... a superior freak controlling the Morlocks? pfft and all that gilfriend shit...
