how do i add stuff in it, it dosent work

it should be a quest. If you finished the quest when you open the inventory there should be an expand button, click it.

she gives u a quest to get 10 mangyang straws, go hunt some hay-noobs and get them then turn em in and you'll have a 2nd page of inventory slots.

The "expanded" part is on the 2nd page and only about 1/2 of it is usable. there's another expansion quest later in the game that you have to do in order to get the full 2nd page. So pretty much for now you can use the bottom half of the squares on the 2nd page of the inventory. If it's just not letting you put it in period, i'm not sure what to tell you.
