I can't help but think...
...that JM's sudden move to ban bots has something to do with our fight here. maybe they DO listen to the community? this is a big shot in the eye to all those who posted in the EB forum that this wasn't going to do any good.

No it doesn't. It's just a coincidence.

Re: I can't help but think...
I'm not going that far.
I'm a tad suspicious that this comes up not too long after they started that bonus Silk event.
And even then, we still need to see what this "massive ban" will consist of.
Nevertheless, it would be nice if it all works out well in the end.

If the reaction we got here spurred JM to act, we should start making more waves ^^.

95% = gold bots
1% = Spammers
4% = Botters without silk or no silk charge recently. I can bet a nice fat dollar on it.

Its a 2008 thing I guess. Every year they throw a little bone to legit players, give them something to hope and make them stick a little longer till 2009 than throw a little something more.

Lol, what i've been saying all along. As soon as silkroadtavern stopped fighting bots, joymax did too. Now that silkroadforums has picked it up, joymax has too. Its not a coincidence... Make sure to archive all those little bots admitting to botting, and save their pictures in a library SG. Might come in handy someday.

I agree with you. If you listened to what JM has said in the past, they've made it clear that this is a player's problem, not the company's problem. I disagree with them but I think the attitude reflects many things, some cultural. The world is filled with people who won't do the right thing unless forced to. JoyMax doesn't want to be police. They want to be computer game makers.
Two things have happened to let them know that players are making changes and want to get rid of botters: the legit dominance of Venus and the banning of botters on this forum. That sent a signal to JoyMax that we (or at least some of us) are going to try and solve this problem. They'll help out too.
I also expect them to have a greater GM presence in those servers with proportionately larger legit populations. We'll see.
Re: I can't help but think...
They were so proud and encouraged when they posted their SS's with the desktops in the Exposed Botters.
Those screenies will indeed come in handy now for JM.
Good Job, botters!
You've made JM's job a LOT easier now.

It's hard to say on what made them actually post notice on bot banning. Joymax is very unpredictable when it comes to situations like this.

Re: I can't help but think...
I'm sure that SRF and other SRO communities have played a hand in Joymax's decision to release a bot ban list, whether it be the increasing number of "I quit coz of traffic" posts or the whole anti-bot movement.
I think we shouldn't be so quick to start lighting fire works, though this act by Joymax is a good start back in the right direction, we all know not to expect too much from them.
I'm hoping that this bot ban list is something that has been months in the making, and not just some random decision they made 2 weeks ago.

Re: I can't help but think...
Yep they check what goldbot account was inactive for 6month so they can delete those
in terms with their tos. and post the names in the so called bot list....
But that is kinda automated too so ...
6 month inactivity deletion ... bot list posts ... ring a bell ....
