What do you consider legit?

Post by RogueKiller »

Well I have gotten into a few arguments with people about what is considered legit. I want some opinions of people here about what they consider being legit. Seems that most people have a slight different view of it depending on their own condition of how they play the game. In my opinion I think being legit is....

1. Not botting
2. Not buying Gold
3. Not buying accounts/characters

Whats your opinion on being "legit"?

Legit:

1. NO botting
about the gold buy, ur still can be legit its just u have tons of gold :D (I don't)
not buying accounts/chars.
It's more an personal issue, how fun is it to be lvl 80 with didnt grind for 1 hour :? (probably its 80 by bot coz thats whats happening, ppl bot char up to 80 in 3 months and sell them). << consider that to as Non-Legit.

Not botting
Not buying gold
Not buying Accounts/characters/items
Not getting powerleveled by a bot
Not hacking, scamming etc.

Technically legitimacy is determined by JoyMax. Being powerleveled by a bot isn't directly stated by them so yea, it's 'controversial' but IMO you're indirectly using the bot to your advantage which is just as bad as botting.

I consider a legit, somebody that does not bot.
IMO, you're still a legit if use modified clients, buy gold etc...
Buying chars is not legit, beucase 99% of all sold chars are bot chars.

EDIT: Oh and scamming/hacking isn't legit either!

Not breaking the ToS? (as far as gameplay is concerned). Legit ~ legitimate gameplay. For everything else, it depends on the context and the means. For example, powerleveling is abusing a share pt system, which is part of the game; hacking is a crime; scamming is generally frowned upon by the gaming community.

Scamming is grinned upon by me, especially when it deprives botters of their "unneeded" equipment.

Legit tells his boting friend that he needs a good weapon.
The friend buys gold and scamms a nice weapon and pimps it to max.
He sells the weapon to the legit for cheap since friends.
Does the legit stays 100% legit after that ?..

Same apply to anyone who buys items from stalls and stall network.
There is no1 left 100% legit in the game.

ps.: Forgot something

Hacking accounts and stealing all the items and gold.
But after joymax states that there was no hacking at all and nothing happened.
So did he do something illegal since jm wrote(ruled) that it didn't happened ?

ps.2: Joymax made the rules bendable as they want to enforce it 1by1 different on every account.
Be straight be proud of it, don't end up like them:

Re: What do you consider legit?

Post by shoto »

it's weird when people see no botting as the only requisite for legit

the whole point of botting being illegal is that you are not earning you own levels and you are gaining an unfair advantage.

these two reasons translate to gold/character/item buying as well.

it's sort of a paradox to be against one and not the other(s)

Legit is anyone conforming to the principles and standards set up, basically what Sylhana said: Following the ToS. Don't break that, you're legit, I suppose.

everyone has been in a share pt with a bot atleast once be it a grind pt or a plvl pt, so can u call him legit now? i would say no one in this game is legit now if everything is looked at closely

None of the following:

-Botting
-Buying Gold
-Buying CCF'd Silk
-Powerleveled by a bot
-Powerleveled by a non botting character when you are AFK.
-Using any exploits in the game
-Scamming

That would make you legit imo

To me you are Legit if:

You don't use a bot
Don't get power leveled by a bot.
Do not hack/scam (to me this is just as bad as being a bot so you aren't a legitimate player)

I frown upon; but still think these people are Legit:

Gold buyers
People that use No-DC clients.

See now i would of said this as well. But the joymax tos doesn't allow for anyone to alter the client. So by this definition using p2k to do something like.. edit your 7th degree sword into an 8th degree sword makes you a non legit?

Goobronicus wrote:Gold buyers

That's laughable. I consider anyone who buys gold a botter. Gold from gold companies is gathered by bots. People who buy gold both support bots and have a hand in the server traffic problem.

To me, you're legit if you don't modify your client in any way, don't use any outside 3rd party programs that have something to do with your client, your play your character by hand, you aren't powerleveled by a bot, you don't buy gold and you don't hack others.

Scamming is a place where you need to err on the side of caution. I'm against scamming legits, but as far as I'm concerned, bots are fair game.

If JoyMax caught you buying gold or using a no-DC client, you would get banned. So you can SAY you think its legit cause you want it to be, but that doesnt make it true.

Because it gives its user an unfair advantage over somebody without one. Anything that gives an unfair advantage is non-legit as far as I'm concerned.

Because altering your client is illegal. It is illegal to alter it for any reason. You WANT it to be legit because it makes things easier for you but its not legal as far as the game is concerned.

No dc was implemented by joymax forever ago and shouldnt have been changed.
cant blame people for going back to the better login days.
i remember when you could just leave a book on top of your enter key and go afk until u got into the server. :S
and editing your media pk2 file is still editing something that joymax distributed as a whole.
same thing as editing client, even though it doesnt affect in-game. So as far as im concerned if no-dc isnt legit then pk2 isnt either, which actually makes some mods and a large portion of high authorities in this forums not legit.

To be a legit is very simple.
Buyin gold ? has no effect on u being legit.
Buyin char? has no effect on u being legit.(ull most likely get the old players reputation if he legit or non .
Scamming/hacking ? has no effect on u being legit.
pk2 files or w/e? has no effect on u being legit.
8 man partys grinding ? legit.
Grinding on ur own ? legit.
Being powerlvled by a bot? sry to break it to u but u aint legit.

Being legit is if u lvled ur char by ur self or other partys while u GRINDING and only GRINDING.

So you're saying it's fine if you don't bot, but you buy golds collected by bots? There's no difference between botting and buy gold form bots. Both ways you're benefiting from doing nothing.

What a bunch of hypocrites. I can't wait to see this place cleaned out.
