Just a few questions about it.

1. is it faster than firefox?

2. how is on comp. resources?

3. does it have a widget similar to firefox's 'no-script'?

4. is there a way to make this program portable (so that you can run it from a usb for ex.)

Yes.

It takes less resources.

Yes.

Opera is better than FireFox imo, but it's all in taste I guess. Firefox has some things Opera doesn't, but it's bulkier, and I don't like those things. Opera has some things Firefox doesn't have, and I like them, plus it's more slim and professional looking.

since I started using it, except that when you go back or forth a page it will be instant.

2. Right now i have both FireFox and Opera open. Firefox is hovering at 27,000kb and Opera at 22,000kb. Opera is a lil' bit easier on the computer.

4. Again not sure, only used Opera for two days.

All in all I have used FireFox for a few years and now that I
switched to Opera I am noticing alot of fun and helpful things.
A better choice imo. So many more features, like the mouse gestures,
speed dial, built in torrent program, nicer looking, alot of useful shortcuts etc.

no script is this extension that pretty much block all the scripts of a website when you visit it but gives you the option of unblocking them if you know the website it safe (this extension is great for surfing if you dont know whether a website is safe or not)

Hmm, I haven't used Opera for that long, but I believe you can block all popups with an option (even if you don't select it, you get no popups. I don't think I even get popups when I go to imageshack).
Hmmm, I dunno about noscript, I'll look for you. I know Opera is safer than Firefox though.

Mouse gestures are what make this browser better than any other imo. I love being able to go forward or backward a page just by holding down right mouse button + clicking left mouse button and vice versa. However the build in torrent thing doesn't work for me and I have to download torrents through IE in order to open them with utorrent.

when i go there and log in to hear some music, the page loads with everything except the play bar; so in other words i cant listen to anything.

is this the same with you guys?

Am I the only one that sees the Java Script enable/disable check? I am gussing that's what it is.
But yeah, FF disables popups too, I have to authorize them if i want them.

I would say Opera looks like it has a lot of useful features which you would have to add on to firefox, but I don't really know how much faster it is. I load pages next to instantly even on IE. I had to use the screenshot thread to see if IE or FF is faster (FF was faster obviously), and that loaded in 20 sec with FF, 30 sec with IE. Dunno about speed, but seeing as opera uses a little less resources i would assume it's a little faster 10%-15%?

I would switch if I didn't like the fully customizable FF (like the bars, that's awesome). I bet if you search Opera addons for FF, you would get the speed dial, and notes thought.

My rating, Opera is better "out of the box", but FF is better for the more comp capable, because it lets you modify anything you want (being open source and all).

I'm kinda using both Opera and Firefox atm.
I really like firefox for its customizations. But now that I've modified my GM script to work with Opera (with a little help from cin ), while I'm browsing SRF I generally use Opera. Anything beyond that, I use FF for the ad removal/no script.

Ok, I think I've found a good pattern here:
If you use IE, switch to Opera
If you use Opera, stick with Opera
If you use Firefox and don't like the addons or don't use them, switch to Opera
If you are a real internet buff and like all the addons and stuff, stick with Firefox

That's just my guess though, not 100% accurate of course.

Wow you must have one beastly machine running there. Only 27k kb??? I get about 100k kb with Firefox.

4. is there a way to make this program portable (so that you can run it from a usb for ex.) Yes. And with Opera 9.5's ability to synchronize Opera with a "MyOpera" account; bookmarks, themes, and customization won't be a problem if you install a fresh Opera.
