The way to go?

Thinking of making an Int Sword and I've read different threads regarding this. But alot of them say different things.
First of all should I use lightning or fire as an imbue and what trees should I use?
As for protection, I've heard that protectors are good or should I go for garment or armour?

At the end common builds are discussed with there pros and cons.

There are sword guides stickied as well, though they may have been written before the big update.

clothes is up to you personal preference.
