Official Rogue Subclass Discussion

Post by XemnasXD »

OK right now if you look below this topic you'll be about 5 other ones mentioning a Rogue subclass. The information is on the forum but right now its scattered all over the place so Rogues lest come together and discuss. Individually we don't have the time to make a rouge and subclass every tree available. So lets get started. I expect discussion and i expect some flaming but not to much because we are trying to decide which is the best subclass so ppl will (hopefully) have strong opinions

Atsuten wrote:Little piece of info I picked up from the forums:
Buff stay after weapon switch
1. Cleric
- Healing Cycle
- Bless
- Holy Word
- Recovery Division (that's the name I think, haven't gotten it yet)
- Body Blessing (Only stays on other players if you switch, you lose it yourself)

2. Bard
- Mana Cycle
- Moving March
- Noise
- Temptation

Thats a good summary of the current info on bards and clerics

WARLOCK
Theres currently a warlock discussion going on but right now it hasn't produced any conclusive information. Below is a link to the current rogue/warlock discussion in GD
Warlock Discussion

WARRIOR
As far as i know NONE of the Warrior buffs at when you switch weapon but i don't know that much about the warrior class.

WIZARD
Wizard i don't think has anything to offer.

So Discuss ppl if you see any information up there you disagree with i'll change it. Eventually when i get enough information out of this thread im going to transfer all the data (credited respectively) over to my Rogue Guide so input is very much appreciated.

My vote goes to Bard because it just goes together. Btw you should have made a poll =X. A rogue needs to be fast, and break 100% speed so you can kill enemies fast before they can react. Cleric makes you more useful in parties but you will be really slow and slowly become more of a tanker and you might want to look into warrior or a chinese char, chinese are more versitile anyways. And pure asasination or roleplaying rogue would be good wearing robe too for the extra speed. On a pure int that i deserted, i tested warlock and rogue. first, i threw on daggers and DD. I used screw on enemy and it hit 550 on movia. then, i switched to rod and casted physical raze on a movie, switched to daggers, DD and screw. the damage was 574... so i really don't see any use in spending points into warlock, it is clearly not effective, or maybe it's just the lvl 2 physical raze?

i say cleric becuz; the fact of being a cleric is just very usefull and getting into parties will be MUCH easier. The hp buffs make up for the loss when u use Desperate Daggers or Xtreme Xbow. And if u can time it right u will be able to heal yourself in the heat of battle; making u nearly invincible. 8)

Isnt that a cleric's job? Believe me, there are some good clerics out there, but if your hp is going too low, either the cleric is being asaulted, or he isnt doing his/her job. And rogues have trouble into getting parties ALWAYS. having the ability to ress, OR speed buff everyone wont make much of a diff. Again, they have to be damage dealers not tankers. If your taking the damage, the warrior is not doing his job.

Parties are great, I and my fiancee' are the bard/cleric combo most parties seek out. She watches the red bars, I watch the blue :D

From my (i admit) limited exp, rogues are great to have in parties. I happen to LIKE the mobs getting KD, and the rogues can take advantage of that.

My own rogue is built for solo play. Full Str, of course, and I picked up lvl 10 in bard and cleric for 4 spells: Moving March, Mana Cycle, Healing, and Reverse.

What do I use? Moving March. Only. :banghead:

Mana Cycle consumes so much mp I use an autopot just to cast it. That is in addition to the autopot that gets used from the 150% mp bonus harps provide.

Healing is used between battles, but with Xbow Extreme, the mobs I grind on can't hit me. Reverse has only been used on random players that are probably KS'ing me anyway :( so I don't want to raise them.

I'm intrigued by the Warlock discussion, but I'll be attempting a War/lock build after the summer event. That 20% is going toward characters I know I'm keeping.

Rogue/Warrior

If you're a team player, you're likely to be getting buffed by Bard/Clerics on the same 'team' anyway... so why not pick a class that covers both offensive & defensive aspects?

Pure Str is the optimum build for both of the above classes, so picking Rogue/Warrior will allow you to play efficiently in both areas, both attack & defense. The Warrior has the highest defense in the game, while the Rogue has the second highest offense in the game, and the fastest speed (fastest offense when hitting criticals with dagger imo).

Only time I wouldn't recommend the above class/subclass is if you mainly play solo, in which case you wouldn't be regularly getting buffed by Clerics/Bards.

Went for Rogue Cleric.

At lvl 38 it let me grind on Bunwangs (I'm crossbow). If i got attacked by 2 bunwangs for some reason while on extreme and neither was about to die soon, I could switch to cleric rod cast bless and healing cycle, use scud (only move i have from dagger mastery) and run far enough so as to kill them off. <-- Only done this 3/4 times in the whole level.

At level 42, with the help of the KD skill i'm hoping to be able to grind on mujigi. Not sure if this'll work cause i'm only 40 atm. Could someone please tell me how much they hit on a rogue at 42 with the rogue wearing all no special equipment? Cause I don't want to grind them if they're able to 1 hit crit me while I'm on extreme.

Thanks.

i was using a chinese lvl 42 hybrid int spear character against teh mulji and i could 2 hit them, however, they would deal 1k damage to me .... im not sure how much help this is for u since ur pure str, but u can atleast assume the damage will be less than 1k :P considering your pure str.

i would go for rogue/ cleric and get both bow and daggers since they are both useful in their situation. i also heard that the recovery division ability works in the same way as autopot except u get about 1000 hp every second at higher lvls...... afterall.... isint the lack of being able to use the hp pots every second the disadvantage for euro characters?? so i guess its pretty logical to get cleric for any build u are creating  another nice thing is hte absoluteness damage ( around 5k) which can basically wipe out any int player who hasent started buying many str stones to max out his weapon and armor.

the point of getting sub-cleric is that u will NOT have to depend on the clerics/bards so much. therefore helping u excel in solo-play as well. and i think just about everyone here would choose more HP and near invinciblity for moving speed increase.

and if u really need to speed up u can always use scud

Scud has a 2 min cooldown and won't help you that much when your in stealth. Also cleric buffs could help a Dagger rouge alot because its main problem is defense when using DD.

Im hearing alot of positive stuff about the warlock but still no ones said anything about skillz or whatever so i dunno

I know I'm still rather low lvl, but my experience shows that even for just the speed buff, bard is more useful.

You say "get cleric and heal yourself," but the white mobs are NOT hitting me. Is there a cleric buff I could cast on myself to increase damage? If not, I'm going for Moving March so I can kill faster.

-------------
Oh, and for those who use the cleric heal skill.... when solo, use the largest pots available and set them between 70-90%. That will keep your health high and give you a cushion for the cool down time. If you are still desperate for health, use a vigor recovery.

I've been tanking giants this way (granted, they are 2-3 lvl below me, but still white)

when i solo w/ my rouge i usually do orange mobs and use xtreme xbow or desperate daggers, use my wolf as a tank. now lets say i use the cleric skill that gives me more defence and stuff, i will be able to solo red mobs w/o having to worry about being 3-hit. :D

(unless im wrong about the cleric defence skill)

Ok, I need to detract my earlier statement...

Now that I have some experience with Xbow Extreme, I have used the cleric skill Healing. Giant pops, I turn off XE, heal, heal, heal, heal, then atk the giant.

Can someone list the other cleric buffs they use?
Recovery division looks good, but I don't understand how the other, more temporary skills would make or break a build. I don't see myself switching to cleric for buffs when I can kill so quick. But I've been wrong before....

I agree. The only thing that kept me from going for party mobs with my rogue on cSRO was the pot limit (30 sec.). Should be perfectly viable on iSRO if you can hold up long enough to let your pots kick in.

I can kill party Bungwangs without DD/C-EX but I choose not to. ;p

Would rather level faster.

ok first of all, rogue gets a passive speed increase as u lvl higher.... second , did it occur to u that you can always buy 50% speed increases for 90k ?? i mean if u have the money and usually by lvl 50+ u have a substancial amount, you can just buy those speed increases at grocery shop and use them for a good 30 minutes =) therefore getting cleric ( recovery division , which acts like autopot ppl!!!!) is the better option.... and if ur really in trouble.... just use the speed increase from the 15 second skill ( forgot name ) :P

BTW all rogue really needs is to survive mabe 5 seconds longer, since there crits will come into play , if u have good crit 18+.... so the key to surviving those 5 seconds is u need to gain hp ...... hmmm ^^ + all bard does is waste your time not being able to kill someone , but instead runnin away from them lol

I go for Bard.

Dont' know at higuer lvls, but rigth now Noise its so usefull, I can go to lvl 40 monster solo and wipe out in 2 shots (only one if first shot crits :P ) with Desperate, and need to watch out only for double champ or giant spawn. I ca n clear a champ with 2 or 3 shots too, but a Golemp champ crit is like 60% of my hp.

Speed its a wonderfull bonus, same with mana, and temptation its more like a toy wen you are bored, its nice to see a Hun Shotter going crazy with its fellows :P

Srry for my english.

Salu2.

writing in big red letters doesn't make your post anymore useful

Euros are party players so while the Rogue is great at solo they must also work well with parties....you try soloing from lvl 1-80 and see if you get there faster than the ppl who are in a party from lvl 1-80

Secondly we have all seen the party match post saying "Need cleric" so a cleric sub would not only have some benefits when soloing it'll also make it alot easier to join parties which is crucial for Euros. Its about the kinda rouge you want to build thats why sub-classes for rouges are so important , they will either boost your partying ability and worth or they will increase your solo abilities....if you want a rouge that works well with others your going to go for party if you want uber solo your going to go with a solo subclass thats what this discussion is about

Lastly if your going to say something is the best sub at LEAST give us proof as to why...the warlock discussion has been going no where and the only thing i hear ppl say is "Its awesome" but no ones said why its awesome what skillz to use how they pvp with it......so if its so great answer those questions and maybe your next post will have more meaning....
