More def for mages?

Post by Nazanden »

Hi i just made a wizard and i became a thief but i keep getting killed because my defense sucks  I was wondering if i should increase warrior mastery so i can wear heavy armor increasing my defense.

Will this affect my magical balance whichs make my attacks weaker, and will i have a lack of sp.

Comment on this please and thanks :D

You know, Ive been wondering if that would be a good thing for me as strictly a bard...regardless of what secondary i take I wont invest alot of SP into it, and I dont need to deal wtfpwn damage, I need to stay alive...Im curious as well.

There are a few things you can do to increase defence. However as a wizard, you have to accept that you will die a lot more than any class. This is balanced for the fact you do a lot more damage than any class. If you dont have a taunting warrior or a cleric in your party, you will die a lot.

What you can do:
1) Go Hybrid. Sacrifice int for str.
2) Dont apply the wizard buff that decreases your HP by half. If you cant 1 hit it, it will then 1 hit you.
3) Get an armor class(eg warrior). Not recommended for two reasons. Firstly Wizard sucks a lot of MP and wearing robes helps reduce that. Secondly you can only wear armor of the armor classes mastery level (need warrior 20 to wear 20 level armor).
4) Get in a party with a tank and a cleric. Highly recommended.

In answer to your second, yes, your robe will have higher defence than low level armor. See my 3rd point as a reference again.
