When you walk by a monster and it attacks you... That is aggro. When you attack a monster you aggro it. And Warrior skills like Taunt aggro monsters. So aggro is when you make a monster attack you.

I can't explain it any better... Maybe someone else here can help you out a bit more.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head.
But I would like to expand up that.
Monsters have an invisible circle around them, and invisible walls.
The invisible circles vary from monster to monster. When a player steps into this invisible circle, the monster attacks. Note- this only works with agressive monsters, some monsters will walk right by you.

Some monster circles also detect when a monster near it was attacked, and follow whatever is attacking their comrade.

After this circle has been activated, the monster attacks whatever is doing the most damage to hit. This however, does not apply, as warriors have several abilities that increase their aggro.

Let's say a warrior has Vital increase activated. Let's say (this is PURELY an example) the warrior is doing the same damage as a mage. The mage will draw maybe 1000 aggro everytime he hits 1000. The warrior, however, will draw 4500 aggro every time he hits 1000. Thus, saving the mage's life.

The invisible walls are pretty much a monsters boundry, where it gives up it's pursuit and figures it would be easier to find a target that won't run.

Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions PM me.
